Well, if you want to get specific then Parcells also took them to the AFC championship game in his second year and one Curtis Martin fumble short of the SB.

What did Mangini do in his second year?

i'm not arguing that; i don't think anyone is...

the part i quoted, the specific part i was referring to, the part that's in quotations -- implied that Parcells inherited a bad team and accomplished something in his first year that Mangini didn't accomplish. and that's just wrong.

it was the part i quoted that i was discussing.

Didn't that Kotite team go 1-15? Regardless, I think Mangini is such an incredible coach. He has this intelligent and confident way about approaching all facets of the game. No knock on Parcells, who I also believe was a very intelligent football coach, but I never saw anything like that out of Herm. Hiring Dick Curl to help with clock management and all, he always seemed confused by what was going on. He gave a great sound bite to the media, but I actually enjoy Mangini's press conferences - he has a dry wit.

They don't teach the history of Thomas Nast in any level of schooling in the United States, so how are people supposed to know?

You're a avid cartoon fan, not the rest of us. Mangini isn't your type of press conference, to each their own.

I happen to think that the guy has a dry personality that works well for what he does. I know a lot of people who have that dry connotation about them, its sometimes funnier than a person who is more animated or slaptick.

I have not been worried about Favre and this "new" system at all. He has been playing quarterback for 17 plus NFL years and like he says there are really only about 30 bread and butter plays--all this other stuff is because coaches have too much time on their hands LOL. I am sure he has picked it up and will be ready sunday.

I like Mangini's approach, the locker room seems loose and I am just psyched about this season. My prediction is the phins can cover Coles or Cotchery but not both. I'm thinking Mahi-Mahi on the grill sunday.

You think I'm born in Florida? You think my family was raised in Florida? Shows how much you REALLY know, or should I say...Should I say doesn't know? What do you know about The Jamaica hospital? 6-2-85, thats when and where I was born...What do you know about South Ozone Park? You better know it's in Queens...Thats where I'm from. What do you know about John Adams High School? I used to live less than 30 seconds away...What do you know about Indians? Thats who took over the neighborhood...What do you know about the smell of curry? Thats what my old city smells like these days...I'm a Jets fan for a reason...A Queens Jets fan. I'm not a "Floridian", but it's clear to see that your one of those...Mr Hot Shot, Know it all, personal attack, call another person names when someone doesn't agree with you.

Joe Namath- Greatest QB to ever play for the Jets...What? You think your the only fan who knows that? Give me a break Mr. "Know it all"

Leon Hess- Was one of the best owners the Jets have ever had...You do know that my father use to only pump gas into his car...That came from the Hess Gas station right? Mr.Know it all.

Robert Moses- You know anything about Queens bridge PJ's? You know anything about helping out others in life? Please...Dont use the name of Mr.Moses to "Try" and prove a point, Moses was a better man than you could EVER be...

Norman Mailer-Correct me if I'm wrong but Norman is known as one of the greatest writers of our time...

    Farrah Fawcett-She's an icon.

Proved you wrong once again...Next time...In life, don't think you know more than the next man because the fact of the matter is this...Your not that smart, no, not at all, matter of fact...Your so dumb where you cant handle when someone else agrees to disagree with you.

Wow man...You know what you sound like? You sound like a man who controls his wife...Disagree with you, and get a beat down...Do you wear wife beaters often? I would imagine so. Do you even have a wife? I doubt it.

So...Because I'm excited about the Jets having Mangini instead of Parcells as of right now...I'm not a Jets fan? I'm more of a Jets fan that you could ever be...How often do fly to NY from FLorida 2 times a year to catch a Jets game? How much money do you spend each and every year on the NFL network package? I bet your the type of Jets fan who goes nuts and brings NOTHING but negativity to this site, after a Jets loss. I don't understand the culture of New York? Really? Thats funny, last I checked...Not one single person in my family is from Florida...Other than my sisters children.

I don't deserve to be a Jets fan? hahaha. why? because YOU said so? Funny how you think you know everything in life, when really...You know nothing about the next man.

I'm done with you...You have proven to be an idiot and actually showed me what type or prick you really are when someone has a different point of view... I would hate to talk about McCain vs Obama with ya, little brain..

Hey man, Thomas Nast did the following things (among others):

    1. He invented the image of Santa Claus.
    2. He created the elephant and the donkey for our two-party system.
    3. He toppled the corrupt Tweed government in NYC.

Yes, they DO teach Thomas Nast in US history classes, if you're ever awake and paying attention. If you don't know who Thomas Nast is? Well, I am beginning to wonder if you deserve citizenship.

As for mangini's last press conference? I swear, he had to be hung over. Really. Any drunk (like me) can confirm that.

Not that this is a bad thing! If he celebrated big time with some alcohol after beating the 'Fins, I'll be to warming to the guy.

I am sorry that you are a Jets fan...

Sorry, dude, but it sounds like you're not only not a true Jets fan, but you're not even a true New Yorker, and you're also a racist creep, thanks to all those cracks about "Indians" and "curry" etc. So you seem to be expert at those personal insults. Maybe you should join John Rocker the next time he takes the 7 train to Shea. And you are far from "proving me wrong." In fact I think I have exposed you as a fraud and hypocrite.

I put that Farrah Fawcett reference in there because she was the model who "took it all off" for Joe Namath in those famous TV ads. You didn't know that so you flunked it, dude! You didn't need to be alive back then to know this, it's common knowledge for Jets fans.

"Steve Serby." You didn't answer this one either. Every New Yorker knows that he's been the NY Post Jets beat writer forever! THIS is the name that exposes you as a fraud! No true Jets fan forgets how Richard Todd attacked Steve Serby after reading a column he didn't like (this was back in the 1980s, newbies!). And anyone who reads the NY Post knows that Serby ALWAYS predicts that the Jets will win the Super Bowl this year, and provides quotes from none other than Joe Namath to prove it. (Thankfully, this year? Serby has kept his damn mouth shut!)

You also failed my test on "Heidi." Every NYC Jets fan knows about this game. here's the Wikipedia entry:
Heidi Game (often also called "The Heidi Bowl"), refers to a famous American Football League (AFL) game between the New York Jets and the Oakland Raiders, played on November 17, 1968 in Oakland, California. This game is memorable largely as the result of a decision by the NBC television network to terminate the broadcast with 65 seconds left to play in the game in favor of broadcasting a pre-scheduled airing of Heidi, a new made-for-TV version of the classic children's story.

"Al Aronowitz" was a trick question, he was the New York Post entertainment writer back in the 1960s and 1970s. On the oher hand, he has also been credited with introducing Bob Dylan to The Beatles, and Aronowitz has been credited as the guy who lit the joint.

So yes, I not only think you're born in FLA, I think you know nothing about New York City.

I'll admit, I am not as schooled in the histor of Nast as I probably should be, but two of the three things you just credited him for are obvious tools in the current brainwashing of modern society. I don't know a hell of a lot about him, but I hate him already.

By the way... fuck off, troll.

you're a cartoon junkie who has a hard on for the guy... good for you, but I don't care who he is, and considering abyz is correct above me, and I share the same sentiments:

Thomas Nast deserved to die. Fuck your hero.

    You are an idiot

I can tell by your profile pic (and your reply) that you are even stupider than I am!
And that is quite an accomplishment, sir!
The fact that you would credit an 18th century cartoonist for "brainwashing" people in the 21st centur makes you look like an idiot.
    Congratulations!
I thought that was MY job!
Now, you just go on with your "hate" of Thomas Nast.
While you're at it, maybe you think Art Rust Jr. was a tool...
(I have to admit I always liked him)
"Native New Yorker" that you are, I am sure you know who he was, right?

And all of you morons who accuse me of being a Pats fan?

Tell me who Art Rust Jr. was (without resorting to Google)...

I am so sick and tired of being accused of this and that by people who don't even live in NYC, or who haven't lived here in too damn long.

I live here. I root for the Jets. Get used to it.

    You are SO WRONG!!!
    And I love it!!!

Granted, I am a very old, poor man but I have a very beautiful, young girlfriend who loves me more than anything you can name... BTW, she works as a bartender in a working class sports bar in Queens, NYC.

And anyone out there who doubts me? I will be very happy to post her photo on my GangGreen.com page so you can all drool.

Meanwhile, I am actually happy for you, that you are so rich that you have enough money to fly to Florida or wherever to see the Jets. Good for you! If I had the money I would do the same. (And losers take note: Even though I am broke as a Bowery bum? I do have a young and beautiful GF, so money is no excuse! Last time me and the GF spoke, she was at Modell's and she told me she wants to buy a Bret Favre jersey (to make me happy, of course)...)

BTW, we will both be voting for McCain, so I am sure that is gonna piss you off too! Poor people like me are "supposed to" support Obama, right?

Shows what you know. (Which is next to nothing!)

Well, you ARE the "TampaBayJetsFan" according to your handle.

    You wanna change it?

    That's fine with me.

Anyhow, I don't have the money to buy the NFL package or anything else. I have a New York Jets coffee cup I bought many years ago, and a New York Jets watch I bought around ten years ago... I'm sorry that I don't have the money to buy all the stuff that you insist I must purchase in order to be a Jets fan. I can barely afford the basic cable TV package to watch Sunday games!

So let me see if I got you straight:
I guess nowadays, the best Jets fans are the ones with the most money and I am a total loser, because I can't afford game tickets or travel to other cities or even the "NFL package."

Guess you got me there, Tampa Bay Jets Fan!

I guess you are the "new" Jets fan that Woody Johnson is courting. You know, the rich bastard who can pay for those Personal Seat Licenses.

Yeah, you are "done with me?"

I have not even begun to deal with you, you rich creep!

You've spent more time trying to legitimize yourself on this board unprovoked than any accusations could inspire. That what convinced me most of all. I'm not getting into a debate of the history of New York with you, because it's too easy for you to look up things on Google to legitimize yourself with. Troll.

And I'd imagine the reason you're spending so much time here now (as well as certain others) is because your beloved Pats forums resemble the Wailing Wall this week.
