I would have to assess the situation and how the kick comes out before I blast Feeley.

However, if I could just make your scenario a little bit more REAL I'd say, with Nuge playing the entire game, that game wouldn't come to being 'a tie' and a FG coming up to win the game. It would be more like we'd be down 6 points on 2 missed field goals by Nuge from 20 & 25 yards out that has come back to haunt us from the 1st quarter and now we're going for the win with a touchdown.

Lets calm down with the improvement talk, there is a reason why Feely was unemployed after week one. Have you guys seen some of the kickers in this league that teams felt he wasn't any better then?

Who is to say Nugent wouldn't have been out of the streets too if he wasn't a 2nd round pick?

The fact that he was a second round pick means absolutely zero to this regime, they didn't draft him in that spot. He was the kicker because he was the best option not because he was a second round pick.

I asked an Lphin fan friend of mine who is pretty knowledgeable about the game what the deal with Feely was and this is what he said:

I don't really care how much he talks or says at press conferences. If he can put some points on the board on Sunday, that's all I care about.

As far as short kickoffs, we're living with that now. Good signing and BPA... hats off to Mr. T once again.

Maybe without the heat & humidity of Miami his KOs will be longer.

Why? You want to replace Ben Graham or one of the backup Qbs?

Some interesting points made in this thread...

I just came in here to say this about John Hall....say what you will about him...he made a 53 yarder with less than a minute to play in Oakland, last game of the season, to get us into the playoffs.

I really do not think you believed what you posted. Nuge was average at the very best. He supposedly had a bionic leg which has not so far been true. Short or out of bound kick offs. He was supposed to be accurate as heck also not true. I'm sure if the CS had put there mind to it they could have easily found an upgrade to Nuge. IMHO it was one area that the CS just let slide just like they have with the punting of BG

He's made 81% of his kicks so far in his career. I'm not a fan of Nugent, but he isn't horrible in terms of accuracy...Could he be better? Of course. Do I trust him in a GW situation down by 2 points? No way.

But he's been pretty solid in terms of accuracy.
