so basically the Dolphin fan is telling us the Jets played like crap but still won by 6 in their building........maybe reason for optimism afterall!
Nope sure wasn't. Guess that means the Jet's have the best defense in the leage now... And to be honest, R&R was working just fine, too bad the line blocking for them wasnt. Either way good luck with your season. Hopefully somebody, even if it's the Jet's removes the Patriots from the top of the AFC East.
What a moron. Nuge missed a FG earlier because of the injury. He makes that one if his leg's ok, plus the one he would have kicked on the 4th and 13, and it's the same 6 points. The only difference is that our KO team would have been MUCH better.
i don't think we were watching the same game. take away that duck favre threw that didn't get picked off and it was anyones game, especially at the end.. thats the favre that scares me, chucking it up and hoping for a prayer. he lucked out somehow, but won't get away with that kind of throw against many other teams. people are so hyped up over favre's play, when all i saw was average at best...
Yeah I guess we were watching a different game. I saw one team able to control the clock by consistently running the ball on offense and stopping the run on defense. The other team really didn't do much of anything until we sat back in the 4th quarter. You wanna take plays away, lets take away the fumble Miami forced when we were on the 15 yard line. Let's take away the missed field goal. I saw the Jets control the game and force Chad Pennington to execute a 2 minute drill ending in a TD with no timeouts left. It was 4th down, would you have preferred him to play it safe and throw the ball away to avoid the sack? This offense will only get better as they build chemistry.
Actually, the guy has a point. During week one, not only were the bills the most impressive team in the division, they were the only team of the 4 to beat a playoff team from last year. And, not only did they beat them, they EMBARASSED THEM. The bills played the best opponent of the four teams in the division, and destroyed them, while the patriots played a horrible KC team and took just a 1 TD lead, and the Jets played a team who had one win last year, lost there best defensive player, and added a QB late. There best WR is so great, they risk injury having him return kicks.... and they are relying a RB that has had suspension problems with the league for 5 years. The guy may, MAY, be on to something. Sure, we can blame the fact the last game was close on the coach... but isn't that the point? The bills coach didn't let up.... Magini did. I just didn't like the way things looked, despite Favre and Jones looking great, and solid D being played. The pats just looked average, at best, without brady.... and the bills looked impressive. Is it so bold? Is it really? Last I checked, they played the toughest oppenent, and had the biggest margin of victory, over anyone else. Meh, it's not really so bold.
Lets see. 7 incomplete passes, a QB rating over 120... 2 TD's, no interceptions, a deep pass for a TD early, a fourth down miracle play later... yeah... average. Yeah, he wont get away with those plays. Of course, those plays have defined his career. Favre isn't just going to stop playing the way he always has because he is on a different roster. Yeah, the 4th down pass was a duck, but WHY was it a duck? Was it really Favre's fault... or did he have to elude two pass rushers, and get nailed by a third, just to get the pass away? Sure, it was a duck, but Favre stated later he did see the guy and he was the intended player for the pass. Because of how he was hit, Favre just didn't think the ball was going to go far enough. pass looked ugly - the result looked beautiful. It was 4th down.... the fact favre got the ball off without being sacked was the true miracle. One thing I will say - the improved Jets OLine has some pass blocking concerns. There were several times during the game that Favre has had to use the 6th sense of just feeling the pressure to get rid of the ball, or avoid the rush. He really took some hard hits. The way you make that 4th down play sound, it's as if your blaiming the "bad looking throw" on favre... you know... for getting hit as he threw it. I think the fact that ball went as far as it did was a testmant to that arm strength. Favre looked solid. Not "stellar", but pretty darn good when you take everything into consideration. Add in horrible play calling in the second half... and you get a good picture. Second half they seemingly took the ball out of favre's hands and sat on the lead. I would of liked to see them go for the jugular and get one score early in the 4th... but they didn't want to do that, for some reason. Yes, i've been a Favre fan forever, and yes I hail from GB. Yes, those type of plays define his career, but that 4th down pass wasn't even "special". It was 4th Down. Worst case scenario, it's a turnover. An Int, Incomplete Pass, or a Sack. He didn't have time to make a better throw, or to find a different reciever. Best of all? It worked. Now, when he zips it between two defenders on a deep slant that goes to the house, now you can start talking the "he can't do that against everyone". Guess what, he can, and he has. He's beaten 31 teams in the NFL playing the way he has, won a super bowl, been to another, and had 4 NFC championship runs and 10 playoff appearances with 3 MVP's and 9 probowl selections. So, he can't play that way? Try telling him that. You can't take the play making out of the play maker. In fact, isn't this the reason the jets WANTED favre? Because he CAN make that play, and pennington can't? Ironic.
thought the idiot OP deserved to have this bumped. yes, everyone who doesn't buy into the Jets, who barely beat the Dolphins and looked like absolute crap against the QB-less Pats, is an idiot. they are clearly better than the Bills, who have only beaten two playoff teams from last year.
Dick Jauron is one of the more "underrated" coaches in this league....the Bills are gonna give us trouble this year.
