    What about the possibility of moving Graham for a punter who can at least make chip shot field goals?

    Why don't we just train a backup holder instead, as that was the reason he didn't kick.

    It's a basic principle of management - if you have a single point of failure for a crucial system, you have a backup. It doesn't matter if you're talking engineering or IT or finance or the military or whatever. You don't just ignore a low (but non-zero) probability that an accident will occur.

    I'm not saying the team should have 5 backup kickers on the roster. Just one guy who could kick in an emergency. Have a competition in summer camp - it would be easy to do. But there's no excuse for not being minimally prepared.

    And the same can be said for other specialized positions - long snapper, punter, holder. Some guy should be cross-trained in each of these skills. Just enough to function in an emergency, when the sh*t hits the fan.
