Just for the general therapy of the board, I think it might be a good idea to take it slow with our predictions about AFC East glory this year.

The atmosphere on this board this after the game was very positive, but I've been a member here for quite some time, and I have to honest. If Pennington completes a pass or two more, we're having threads claiming the season is over, and the board would be an unreadable mess of groans and whines.

The news of Brady possibly being out is exciting, but let's take it slow. Keep in mind, the injury bug is going to bite us too somewhere down the line, and the patriots still remain a very deep team. The loss certainly knocks them down a peg, but does it necessarily knock us up? We still have to go on the field with a roster which is truthfully not quite as competitive as theirs. They still have the potential to be an explosive offense, and I think even without Brady, they still remain formidable team.

But I think the real sleeping giant here is Buffalo. Yes, they always start strong, and they have some question marks, but let's be honest, they've had our number the past couple of years. We've eeked out a couple of undeserved victories and they've run us out of their stadium a couple times in the past two years. They are a disciplined team, have some very underrated players (Schobel (sp), Lynch come to mind) and have a tremendous homefield advantage, and most important they know they can beat us. I'm not giving them the division, but IMO they have just as much a shot at the division then us.

I'm not trying to be a dark sider, but I am trying to alleviate the potential bi-polar disease this board can obtain. Let's be grateful for the win, make fun of any pat fan who comes here to cry about how we are classless for not being sad about brady's injury and claim baselessly that we are rooting for him to get hurt, and take it one game at a time before we write an emotional check we're not sure we can cash.

    Ok, that's my rant. :jets:

Sorry Booger, I don't believe in Karma or being snake bit etc or bad luck team or Flying Dutchman ghost ships either. The Jets I remember are the one when I was a boy and these woeful underdogs had a QB who couldn't stand hearing how bad he and his buddies were so he guaranteed a victory to shut them up.
It's gonna be OK. This team has some real football talent and they don't even play like a team yet but they want to and they will.

Are you kidding me. There are enough whiners on here to start a small army. No chance of become overconfident reading this board!

good post. Agreed. I like the optimism actually because it negates the usual dark self-cursing. But it's week 1 - Brady's injury may well change things but one week at a time is the prevailing philosophy surely

We gotta focus on next week and next week only. Even without Brady, the Pats are a very good team, excellent defense, and they can run the ball well with Maroney and Morris if they stay with it, and Moss and Welker are great outside. Cassell just has to avoid big mistakes and the Pats will be right in it. Very close matchup IMO.

Telling the Jets fans base to not be as excited for their team as they should be is like telling a rock to sit.

No offense to your thread or anything. Just a meh title.

That's always the way I look at it. Obviously fans are always going to look ahead but you need to hope there is enough veteran leadership on this team to keep the young guys grounded about the Brady injury. I'm sure Faneca is reminding these guys that in 2001 some jackass named Tom Brady took over for an injured Drew Bledsoe and the rest is history including a win over the Steelers in Pittsburgh (which of course it was Bledsoe that won) and Jenkins was on that team that they beat in the SB a few years later.

As far as Buffalo they look pretty good and certainly took advantage of a banged up Seattle team. They never let the foot off the gas pedal and made some tremendous plays on ST. They have some scary players like Parrish (who has burned us in the past) and every Buffalo RB seems to have career days against us. Lee Evans sends shivers down my spine and the matchup with Schobel and Brick still gives me nightmares from 2 years ago.

We have made some improvments but we won't really know how good we are until after the next two weeks. I don't care who is the QB for NE if you beat them it's a big win and if you happen to win next week and then go into SD and beat them people will all of a sudden realize this team can win the SB, although I think it would be pandemonium on this board if the Jets started out 3-0. You lose those next 2 weeks and thinsg all of a sudden are bleak.

They are now a huge concern. The Bills have a very good young team with a solid O-line, running game, and good Defense. Its going to be fun to watch this race play out.

Good post. I couldn't agree more. But I feel as if we, Jet fans, are the ones who are acting overconfident. As Miano said, I definitely think there are guys in that locker room to keep that bullshit in check. These guys gotta be hungry and focused, especially considering all those close games we lost last year. I always remember watching the post game on SNY last season and seeing how upset Kerry Rhodes was after all those losses during his interviews and thinking that they would be much better this year, even prior to the free agent acquisitions.

And I have to say the run d looked as good as I can ever remember it looking today. We will go as far as they decide to take us IMO. Look at how relevant the Packers became last year with Favre bc of that defense. I just can't wait until Ryan is out in Oakland and here as our d coordinator bc Sutton's bs almost cost us in the 4th.

I really hope people don't think it is an automatic w next week bc we could easily go down to the pats. Its gonna be an interesting season
