How in the hell do you HANDCUFF a future hall of fame QB most of the 2nd half against one of the worst teams in football? I seriously thought i was witnessed another game under good ole Herm. This team should of put the foot on peddal like the Bills did to Seattle and ended this game early in the 4th. They were playing to lose and in the end, Pennington bailed them out. Any good team beats the Jets today. This crap coaching staff still scares the hell out of me. Regardless of the kicking situation, this game should of been a blowout and we came close to losing it. I would expect this conserativness with Clemens, but not a seasoned vet like Favre. Im glad we won but very dissapointed in the 2nd half playcalling and this kind of crap wont get it done the next 2 weeks.
I'm still miffed about running on 3rd and Long with the game on the line. When the fuck did Paul Hackett rejoin the coaching staff?
We won the game...We won on the road...And we won an AFC East battle... Wow...It's the first freaking game of the year...Wow. It's true, Jet fans will complain...Even when things are exciting...Always finding a way to complain! Im done witht the computer, Im off to enjoying my football Sunday 1-0...Remember that.
You've provided 0 argument today. You've simply attacked people for being "bad fans". Get the fuck off the high horse.
its true. they played way too conservative and that 3rd and 7th call just proves it. Thank god we were playing the fins. any above average team would of made us pay for that conservative bullshit.
I got frustrated because we went down the field on every posession. The 1st drive got stopped because of a holding call near mid field The 2nd drive was the TD to Cotch 3rd Drive was missed FG 4th was a TD to Stucky 5th ok not much a drive right before half. 6th fumble near the red zone (No tuck rule huh) 7th was the Jones TD then we go el conservo..... I don't get it?
I gotta agree, terrible call. My guess is that Mangini didn't want a turnover. Brett does have a tendency to force the ball and my thinking is that Mangini just wanted to play it safe but it still was a shitty call
We didn't pick up Favre to do the same useless shit we did last year. Grow a pair, OC, and pass the ball more in the second half.
I don't have a problem with the 3rd down runs late in the game. They took extra time off the clock. An incomplete pass in either of those spots would have been very bad. The Dolphins would have had more time late in the game and would not have had to rush as much as they did. They would have been able to work the middle of the field on at least one of the plays on their final drive.
So your bitching that we tried to run the clock out with a running game that was working all game? Cool. Madden '09must be a great teacher for you.
There were still almost 2:00 minutes left after the punt for the Dolphins. If it was :30 seconds or so I would agree with you (about three straight running plays being OK). However, 2:00 is plenty of time. I think you have to be able to trust Favre and give him an option. If the receiver is open you threw it to him. Otherwise you just try to get as many yards as you can.
I thought the penalties were pretty bad today too, some of those (like that 1st q holding) can be drive killers. Can't have too many of those the nest 2 weeks. It is week 1 and I'll give em a pass but Fanecca can't be moving on a 3rd and 2. He's an all pro vet. He gets no pass.
If nobody gets open, then he gets sacked, throws an interception or an incompletion. None of those scenarios would have been better than what actually happened.
Exactly. We gave Pennington the middle of the field on the last drive, and he ran out of time largely because of it.
