Grogan makes sense with the 2007 draft only keeping Meriweather....18 wins...hardly think keeping one or 2 more rookies would have got them a SB win.....

They did keep a slot open for Troy Brown out of loyalty which was a mistake. The result was Mangina grabbing Kareem Brown when BB waived him and tried to get him on the Pats PS......he might have made a good backup on the DL

Pats only have a few older players that will need replacing in a year or two......

Harrison and Bruschi are first in line...and Mayo/Meriweather are already in place getting experience to fill those slots............hardly a huge hole....

The Pats, imo, are getting old. The Giants exposed them last year. Get to Brady, the Pats are brought right back down to earth.
I realize this team is still a championship caliber team until someone detrones them, in the AFC east. The only worry i've got is, that for all our pickups this offseason, we didn't get the biggest ingredient to beating the Patriots. A defense that can put Brady on his ass.
We can only hope that with Jenkins taking on 2 o-linemen, it will free up Pace,Harris, and Rhoades, to get to the QB. We ain't doing it with Ellis, and Thomas on the ends.

It's Ellis and Coleman and Ellis will definitely be getting there this year now that he has help.

Pats did a good job bringing in some LB talent this draft. Mayo is going to be a stud. Crable at OLB and UDFA Guyton also will be learning the system. So they are addressing an obvious need. You can't expect to keep playing Teddy, Vrabel and Seau until they are collecting Social Security. But I am amazed they didn't do something about the LB situation before now.

Why would they need to?? Do you realize that last year the Patriots where the the 4th best defense in points allowed per game? Or in 06 they gave up the 2nd fewest points per in the NFL??? I understand that your a Jet fan and you want the Pats to lose in everything, but does that take away your ability to understand football???? Or are you happy to belive in smoke and mirrors? The fact that Jet fans really seem to belive the Pats have a weak O-line and that the defense is falling apart has more to do with hope than reality. This team went 18-1 last year and only a hand full of teams even gave them a game, they lost 1 pro-bowl CB, and now you expect it to all fall apart? Your in for a surprise, but don't take my word for it, you'll see it very soon.

Are you on a day pass from the circus??

Quit living in the past..anybody who follows football knows that the Pats defense is in trouble this year....their secondary is in total shambles....their LB's are older than Lincoln....and Tom Brady is playing on a broken wheel....it's only a matter of time before some pass rusher runs him over like a Mack truck.

Just face it...the Pats blew their chance last season.....I'm not saying the Jets are gonna be unstoppable this season...but you need to realize the Pats are on borrowed time with that defense and Brady's injury status. I wonder if Randy Moss will still be all "hugs & kisses" when the Pats go on a losing streak....good luck with that.

Looks like we are about to see who's right, will you go hide when the Jets start the season 1-3 or 0-4?

i've been a Jets fan for well over 15 years....why would i start hiding now?

However...the same can't be said for you...i'm pretty sure you'll be hiding behind your momma's skirt after week 2, a bandwagoner such as yourself.

So you're saying that Tedy and Seau and the other octogenarians on last year's LB crew will be on the team 3 years from now? You've got to replace your old (in this case, ancient) players eventually. Seau is gone but how come they didn't have more guys getting ready to play. And what's up with your DB's.

I'm a Jets fan but I like to consider myself pretty fair and objective in evaluating the game. And I have to conclude the Pats defense is not going to be as good this year.

But we'll see once the games start being played. Maybe some of the rookies will pick up the slack. Mayo looks to be a very strong player.

Not what I'm saying at all, what I'm saying is that you don't re-build a defense that has been one of the best year in and year out and still is. As I said the Pats gave up the 4th fewest points per game last year and Jet fan belive they are going to suck this year. Further more it seems Jet fans don't have a very long memory, it wasn't very long ago when TY Law was released and Jet fans where telling us that Samuel was a JAG, do a search, it's all there. Jet fans want to belive that the Patriots haven't done anything to replace people because they may never heard the names before, then all of sudden these guys hit the field and the Jets lose two to the Pats almost every single year. The bottom line is by the end of each off-season Jet fans can't tell the difference between reality and fantasy. This year is going to hurt Jet fans more then most.
