You are absolutely right here - it's just easier to rip a team that's had such a makeover than come with anything thoughtful. I lost all respect for Theisman on the broadcast of the Christmas game at the end of the 2006 season. He spent the entire game totally dissing Pennington, saying he didn't have an NFL arm and couldn't do this, that or the other... then Leon Washington took that dump-off pass all the way into field goal range and a couple of plays later Chad is waiting to take a timeout, letting the clock run down. Theisman chirps up with "He's so complete" because Chad was smart enough to run a few seconds off the clock before calling the timeout. From not being able to do anything, to being "so complete" in about one minute. Only in Theisman's world, ladies and gentlemen.

I think 2-2 is a pretty reasonable expectation for the team to start the season. So 1-3 is not that bold a prediction. 0-4 only happens with injuries to Favre (and others). Theisman is just talking out of his rear end.

Joe f**king Theisman what a usless piece of crap, I can not stand the mutt. Watched the Jets Skins game from DC this year and had to turn down the sound, could not listen to him anymore. The best I ever saw this idiot play was when he was laying on the ground with his leg bone sticking out after L.T. layed the wood on him. He was never the same after that and this is the very reason he hates everything N.Y. Yet, as an almost 40 year Jets fan I expect nothing less from the so called experts. Pissing on the NY Jets has become a yearly ritual for most of the experts and sad to say it's been easy because we have lived up to the disaapointment. This is a very well put together team the question becomes can the parts now equal the whole and these guys come out and play as a team. Being the underdog is a way of life for the Jets and there fans and to tell you the truth this fan perfers it that way. As a team, the Jets always seem to impress when no one expects anything out of them as a team. It looks as though this year will be one of the those years in spite of all the holes that were filled thru F/A this year. I won't make any predictions as far as wins and losses other then to say there is no way we will not be a better team then we were last year. If there are teams out there that chose to look past the Jets that will be there loss and our win. One thing we must all keep in mind for this up coming season is the number of games that we lost by 3 points or less last year. I don't know the actual number but I remember there were many of them. It is my hope that this year we will be on the other side of those games this year. As far as Joe T. goes, I hope the Jets make the S.O.B. eat crow on the air and prove once again why anything that comes out of his mouth should just be ignored....
I read it somewhere when it was going on, probably linked from here. Everyone knew we had to get rid of Pennington so nobody was going to trade for him knowing he would be released by 4 pm. Once that happened he was free to sign anywhere, which he did the next day. Exactly why Green Bay couldn't just release Favre, because he would have also gone to a division rival.

Every time I see that reverse angle shot it chills me. All I can think about is extreme pain. LT snapped his leg like a matchstick. Nevertheless, Theisman is still a DB for saying what he did about the Jets. I would say in general, amongst the media, the Jets have not been a well liked team. This comes with the territory of being downtrodden for 40 years. If we suddenly went on a dominating run over 4 to 6 seasons , like our cheating, arrogant, counterparts up north, the media would suckup to us to the point of being nearly disgusting.
