I think you're right about a lot of things but I don't think the Favre/Pennington comparison is totally equivalent. That is, imagine that instead of the suckfins, our first game was against Green Bay. Even if Favre is learning a new system, wouldn't he also have the advantage of knowing Packer tendencies? This is the problem we face with Chad. And I've said it before--there is no good reason we should be in this position--this game would have been a lock except for letting Chad sign down there.
Who do you think was the Pats best OG in their history? Mankins, Hannah or Kratch? Personally I think Kratch was pretty good, but I don't want to steer you in any direction. What do you think??

Theisman is just playing the 38 year old QB on a new team angle and hoping he gets lucky. Could the Jets go 0-4 to start? Sure, it's probably about a 5% chance. The chance they go 4-0 is a little bit better than that.
They didn't have a choice once they made the trade for Favre. They had to clear the cap room by 4pm the next day.
This isn't smack, it is discussion. It has played better, or you expect it to play better? Clifton and Tauscher are outstanding tackles. But can the Jets put five legitimate threats on the field at once? Quick slants off 4 and 5 receiver sets were the bread and butter. What about injuries? If a starting Packer WR gets injured, Jones starts. Who'll start for the Jets if Coles or Cotchery misses a game? Lee was the #1 TE. I haven't seen them enough, but Jones doesn't look like the same player he was in Chicago. Teams realized that immediately. Brett definitely helped the running game, no doubt, but he was unable to "make" Jackson, Herron, or Wynn. Wynn getting injured against Denver and Grant replacing him made the biggest difference.
Theisman just doesn't like anything New York or anything that makes him not feel like the himself like the greatest quarterback ever.
In order for that to happen they would have to lose to either Miami in Miami (something that doesn't happen often, as the Jets OWN Miami) or Arizona at home. Neither of those things will happen. The Jets will be 2-2 at worst after four games. (I personally think they will be 3-1, as I see them upsetting the Patriots at home and FINALLY beating them at home for the first time since 2000)
Both. The guards in Green Bay are below average. The center is hurt. The tackles can play-yes, but the other 3. Ugh. Favre made that line look awfully good last year by being able to get rid of the ball quicker than any QB in the history of the sport. He is able to make decisions so quick it is amazing. Also, the same line as last year gave up 6 sacks in a pre-season half this year because the new QB held the ball a little longer than the old one. Don't be fooled into thinking the line was as good as it appeared. I would take the Jets line at every position over the Packers line, including the aging tackles (Tauscher was beaten bad twice in two of those 6 sacks).
I definitely agree that Favre makes an offensive line look better. His release, awareness, and (yes) elusiveness are incredible!
