Drop it guy. Thomas is a shadow of what he once was and Jason Taylor didn't want to be in Miami and likely would have sat out TC. If he stayed he would have been more of an annoynance then a leader. Filling those roles is Channing Crowder and Joey Porter both who IMO are more outspoken and show a lot of fire. 41-10 won't happen week 1 against a team that now has a real coach, new and improved players and a desire to win with the new regime. It will be interesting to see how the Jets fare in the hot South Florida weather wearing those dark green uni's with Ricky and Ronnie pounding that Jets defense. Both of which the Jets haven't been able to stop in the past.
I agree, this is an unusually important opener. I have this fear that it will be closer than people on this board think but I also think the Jets will take care of business in the end because they are a far more talented team.
Well said Slim--this is an unusually important game. We would be in a much better position to win it if they did not have Chad and this was in our control. Lousy decision making led to this being an even tougher game than it should be. Still, its a good chance that we take this one.
Dallas won in that heat last year. In 2006, PIT and Buffalo beat them in weeks 1 and 2 in the heat as well. Why is this "heat" such a problem? It's going to rain with all the weather in the coast anyway. Jets 08 DL >>>>>>>>>>>>Jets 05-07 DL
You're right, but mostly everyone else in the front 7 is new and they're now playing a whole new scheme, last year they were playing the 4-3/3-4 Hybrid.
I'm well aware of that, I was just helping brownie out with his teams roster changes because he seemed a bit confused. Who do you guys have in your secondary again?
The starting CBs are Will Allen and Andre' Goodman with Michael Lehan being the Nickel CB. The safeties are Yeremiah Bell and Chris Crocker, I'm not happy with them picking Crocker over Jason Allen but hopefully that'll change.
I feel ya. Im not happy with Eric Smith likely being the starter opposite Kerry Rhodes, but I guess that is why they get paid the big bucks to make these decisions.
I can tell you for sure you'll see Bell blitz on many occasions, the guy is a beast at that. I honestly think Allen can do a good on Coles (who murders the Fins pretty much every game) but you'll guys'll have a HUGE advantage in the Cotch v. Goodman battle but Crocker was picked cuz of his coverage skills so maybe he'll be able to help out in that battle. Don't know too much about you're rookie TE but some of our LBers are new to scheme and their weakness so far has been in coverage. I'm hoping that Brett reverts to his gun slinging mentality of two years ago and decides to try and fit some balls where there's no window.
I doubt the weather will be any different at all then the two a days they just completed in August in NY. So don't count on that as having any meaning. Maybe it would mean something in December but then Miami won't be playing any meaningful games in December anyway.
If Coles is still hurting, Allen will be able to do a good job on him. Otherwise I see him eating Allen up. Allen is average at best IMO and tends to get burnt deep fairly often. I honestly think that secondary is heavily over matched in this game. The Dolphins will need to generate a lot of pressure to help them out.
Chad Pennington is their QB. i have all the respect for Pennington, but i don't see him leading the 1-15 dolphins to a win against the Jets in Brett Favre's Debut. Pennington is horrible in the 4th quarter, and Brett Favre is a play maker in the 4th. So if the game is close, which it very well could be, i see the Jets winning it in the 4th.
you are correct, we have struggled at stopping the run. However, you forgot one thing...chad is your qb which means we can play 8 in the box all game without the fear of getting beat deep so i dont think you will have as much success running as you think.
