We could use an extra RB. Was anybody impressed enought with Smith or Kinlaw to give them another chance ? If not do we go with a waiver wire guy ? Or just wait and see what happens ?
The Colts cut Kenton Keith. He was awesome in a couple games last season. 2007 Indianapolis 16 gm/121 carries/533 yds/33.3 y/4.4 avg/3tds.
We can go into Miami with just Jones and Washington. After week 1, we can re sign Musa Smith for depth. Waiting that extra week prevents Smith's salary from being guaranteed for the entire season. We can then use him until Chatman returns than cut him again and not be on the hook for his salary.
Who gets cut to bring in an extra running back right now? Also, with the news about Chatmans test failure being from the end of last season, I have to believe Mangini and company knew about that prior to signing him and that it shouldn't have an impact on whether or not he stays on the team.
Colts' Kenton Keith arrested outside Indy nightclub Updated 4/21/2008 8:59 PM INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Colts running back Kenton Keith was arrested after refusing to leave a nightclub parking lot that was being cleared by police. Keith was charged early Sunday with misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct, resisting law enforcement, public intoxication and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, because a man he brought to the club with him was 19, police said.
That's a pretty dumb charge against him... something like assault or gun possession would be serious, but getting arrested for not leaving a parking lot...? wow.
Officers working security tried to clear a crowd from the parking lot of the Cloud 9 club after it closed at 3 a.m. Sunday. The 27-year-old Keith and several others refused to leave and were laughing, dancing and joking, police said. Police eventually ordered them to put their hands on a vehicle, but Keith refused and took out a cellphone to record the incident, according to an Indianapolis police report. Keith kept saying, "I'm a Colts player, I'm a Colts player," the report said. Police handcuffed him when he refused to put his hands behind his back and he was taken to jail, police said.
I was just gonna post this. Apparently, the Colts are a no-nonsense team...unless your name is Harrison. The thing I have against bringing Keith in is that he's a product of the Colts offensive schemes. Backs in that system will put up solid numbers because they run draws off of shotguns a lot and people don't stack the box because Manning is throwing to Harrison, Wayne, Clark or Gonzalez. Those same RB's in other systems usually fail to repeat their success.
we'll have a offense similar to that IF the offensive line holds up. multiple targets the likes of Coles/Cotch/Keller/Smith and mind you we have brett favre at qb and no more pennington which means teams respect that pass. not comparing our whole offense talent level, but the concept and oppertunities should be the same.
