RB Chatman gone from Green? Lots of speculation late Friday night about RB Jesse Chatman. One report said he was released. He was not released, according to his agent, Brett Tessler. However, that doesn?t mean Chatman will be a Jet. Turns out they were showcasing him in Thursday night?s pre-season finale, because I?m hearing he probably will be traded. Not sure about the destination or the compensation, but it could be the Ravens, where he would be reunited with his longtime offensive coordinator, Cam Cameron. The Jets will have an announcement Saturday on Chatman, who rushed for 96 yards against the Eagles.
Thats great news... No way would this guy simply be "released" That was insane. If we trade him and get ANYTHING in return that would be solid because we have Leon Washington backing up Thomas Jones and Washington is a play-maker in the making. Keeping this guy would be nice as a fan but a trade to a team that NEEDS a RB would be the smart move. Im just glad we didnt simply "Release" the man,,,
News that won't be particularly relevant in 2 weeks. Though if we can trade Chatman for something that would be nice. I'm not opposed to keeping him either.
They will trade Chatman and Ainge to Baltimore for Ray Rice. You read it here first...lol. Unless it's Clemens or Ratliff that is. It would probably have to be Clemens, Rice was a 2nd round pick. Seriously though, Baltimore needs a QB, not a RB and the Jets wouldn't be trading Chatman unless they are getting another RB from somewhere.
That makes perfect sense -- we get a 2nd day pick or another player? I am not familiar with Ravens team. What can they offer back?
Why would we lethis guy go? Now we have no depth at RB when a week ago we had Smith and Chatman. neither one is very good but in a pinch they provide quality depth. behind a bad Ol and on a bad team last year Chatman averaged 4 YPC. The guy can play.
Why? Because we are getting another one who is better. Hopefully one that is good enough to take Jones spot. Who that is we will find out later today.
Makes zero sense to cut him. Doesnt make a lot of sense to trade him either, as other posters have correctly said, we have no depth at RB.
Don't know, but they wouldn't be going into the season with only 2 RBs and they wouldn't say they will have an announcement on Chatman today unless he is going somewhere. I am guessing it might be Ray Rice. It could be one of those out of work feature backs from the past but I doubt it. (Henry, Alexander) I am sure that they know how bad the rushing offense looked in the pre-season if we are. They have spent too much money this year not to have a running game too.
Barring a major trade we aren't getting a #1 type Rb and we don't need one. Why would Baltimore trade Ray Rice? Obviously we'll be picking up a couple of RBs for depth but it will be difficult to find a better 3rd RB than Chatman. Hopefully we would never have to use him but he's cheap and quality depth in the event of an emergency.
Because Baltimore needs a QB desperately. If you looked at my previous guess I said that we may be trading a QB and Chatman to Baltimore assuming that is even where Chatman is going. We have one too many QBs and Baltimore needs a QB. Baltimore does not need another RB anymore than we need to give one up. The only think that would make sense is if we get one back from them as part of a deal and who would that be? Their 3rd and 4th backs are not as good as Chatman. That only leaves Rice or McGahee and I doubt it would be McGahee. Of course that all assumes, as I said, that there would even be a deal with Baltimore. That seems to just be a guess on Cimini's part. But how do you trade a 3rd string RB anyway? That is what makes the whole thing juicy to speculate about.
So Baltimore would just take any QB off our roster? Clemens clearly isn't ready to play and Ratliff has looked good but he has a long way to go to get ready. It doesn't make any sense.
