Go back and re-read the thread douchebag. How can anyone consider a player a bust not even 1 year in the league? If Gholston is already a 'bust', then I wonder what you would consider Meriweather and Jackson who haven't transitioned well in a position they got drafted to play for. Gholston is learning a new position and system from a 4-3 DE to a 3-4 OLB. Of course he's going to struggle. Even his freshmen year in Ohio he didn't grasp the defense right away, it took him time. But we saw the result of what you can get with this kid when you practice patience.
This won't happen again this season. It's so unlikely. In addition, we really didn't have a choice on who to pick with the way the Draft unfolded. You tell me who we should've drafted at #6? Should we of reached for a WR? Should we of gotten another MLB when we have Harris? Or reached for a QB? We needed pass rushers. Gholston was there at #6. It was really a no-brainer.
I don't know what will happen w/Brady this year, but I'm sure people will be trying to copy what the Giants did in the superbowl with their blitzes. That seemed to work OK. As for Gholston, most rational people with any kind of patience aren't concerned at this point. Talk to us next year about him.
I said "more", not "anymore". I'm quite active on another Jets board, but I like the change of scenery and TGG is my 2nd fav. There's just a whole lot of overreacting that goes on around here.
1. Vernon Gholston was NOT a top 5 pick. The top 5 are: 1st - Jake Long (Dolfags) 2nd - Chris Long (Rams) 3rd - Matt Ryan (Falcons) 4th - Darren McFadden (Gayders) 5th - Glenn Dorsey (Chefs) So stop saying top 5 pick - as Gholston never was top 5 pick as I stated above. (Yeah - top 10 pick, I can live with.) 2. The rookie is learning something completely new WHILE adjusting to the speed of NFL. Some (or quite a few, depending on how you see it) don't even succeed that adjusting part alone, much less learning completely new position. Get a grip, ok? 3. If the good-for-nothing Clemens deserves 3 years of development, so does this kid. Lay off.
Wow, so now I know you follow the Pats wins and nothing else. Willis was the 12th overall pick in that draft, Jets traded up to 14th and got Revis. So how do the Jets get Willis?? A round later, they pick up David Harris who had half the stats Willis had in half the games played. Do the math. You lose.
We need to give him way more time before judging him at all. Everyone needs to relax and get pumped up for this season because we have a team this year boys!!
Why? So you can troll the shit out of this thread, too? "MAcFadDen is gonna be Rokie of the Year... Gholsten is a werkout worrior"
I wouldn't worry about Vernon gholston, remember you have my prediction that this guy going to be a superstar. Everyone knows my track record with Predictions. Usually right on the mark.
and the other prediction about him sucking. You hijacked a whole thread about it, so don't be smarmy - you're too dumb for that. Fake acting troll. You don't act like this in real life. Which makes it less respectable.
I do it every week. I tape the game and watch the game in superslow motion. Maybe that will be my new thread in the thrash talking forum. Breaking down Kwame harris anD robert gallery as D Mcfadden goes for Roy.
most everybody wants him to just come in and dominate. and they forget about patience. they guy has alot of talent, and i have seen his potiential in the preseason
