You want more than 6 from Pedro? I know he did 7 twice in a row, but he's a 5 and 6 inning pitcher. Easley a double away from the cycle in the 4th inning. Wright grounder plates the 7th run.
I asked if he can make it through 6, and there's no way that 5 innings is enough. With Maine gone, all of the other four starters have to give a minimum of 6 good innings or it's a failed start. That's just the way it is.
Then Pedro should be sent to the bullpen. You asked if he can "even" make it through 6. 6 is as good as you'll get from Pedro. Heh, wishful thinking. I'd be surprised if Pedro is still out there at the commencement of the 7th.
Since he pitched 7 his last two starts (and 6 1/3 and 6 the two before that), your statement is incorrect on its face. I can't imagine why you're acting like there was something strange with my comment - EVERY starter on the Mets (not counting Niese) should be thinking that he's pitching a minimum of 6 innings every game. If they don't do that, the chances of the Mets winning that game go way down. It's really not that complicated.
I already commented that he went 7 in back to back starts, but that is very much out of the ordinary. My point wasn't that he never pitches past 6. My point was that it's unusual. Look at how many innings he's gotten per start the last few seasons. Less than 6 innings per start in 2006. 5 and change in 2007. About 5 this year before his last two. As for it's really not that complicated, duh. Obviously the pitchers should be trying to go deep into games, good bullpen or not. My problem with your comment is that it implied that Pedro Martinez should be pitching more than 6 a game, when he's shown that he simply can't go deep into games any longer. I obviously wish he could go 7 and 8, but it is what it is. Castro seems to have pulled something. Church is chasing pitches out of the zone tonight.
I've been watching on http://rookyclub.4-all.org/ Emergency catcher? I'd say Castillo or Murphy, but as far as I know, none of these guys have catching experience.
Condrey now 3/25 in his career. I think that was his first extra base hit. Rollins a 2 run bomb. Pull Pedro now.
Rollins is now a triple away from the cycle. Last night he was one away from the cycle as well. Rollins and Easley.
