    OH YEAH!!

We are situated at #22, but our team favorite is our #2 QB.

    22. New York Jets: Brett Ratliff -- The "other'' Brett on the Jets' roster has clearly out-performed Kellen Clemens this preseason, throwing for 451 yards in his three preseason games while getting lots of snaps with the second-team offense. But there's still some question whether New York head coach Eric Mangini will relegate Clemens, a 2006 second-round pick, to the No. 3 role? It could be that Clemens would get the first call if the Jets just need a game or two of relief in place of Brett Favre. Anything longer and New York would turn to Ratliff.

Just remember, Clemens looked good for a few preseason games a year or so ago.

Really? I don't remember him looking all that good in preseason. In fact I remember thinking that's he's still young...no big deal.

Clemens in the preseason showed poise and leadership, but not the accuracy to tools this kid has. Ratliffs footwork is beyond better.

He never looked as good as Ratliff has. He did some good things for a brand new guy but he still isn't putting the ball in the end zone and this is year three.

The difference is he had a change to prove that was no fluke and he failed miserably. Ratliff hasn't had the real game opportunity yet to prove it one way or the other.

Yeah without a doubt. Remember: he and J-Mac were lighting it up all last preseason. He had some solid outings. J-Mac looked great.

In my opinion, that Ravens game totally fucked up Kellen Clemens. He looked DAMN GOOD. He seemed totally unaffected by the then-mighty Ravens rush. He drove down the field in the final moments and then got screwed twice by J-Mac's butter fingers.

Had he won that game, maybe things would've been different. Maybe his hard work would've paid off in some confidence. Oh well. Who knows?

I have liked what Ratcliff has done. But the guy is usully facing 3rd string DB's.

You are right, but just watching him you can tell he has the tools. I like the way he goes thru his progressions, he's thrown the ball where it needs to be thrown with good zip on the ball. These are the things that have stood out for me. Plus, he has put the ball into the end zone.

Yes, but even when 3rd string DBs allow 3rd string WRs to get open, the QB still has to find the right guy and make a good throw. Ratliff isn't making good throws, he's making great throws. We're getting TDs in "drives" of one or two plays.

I'm not trying to be a wet blanket either. I like Ratliff, I just get tired of getting my hopes up on a guy after a few good preseason outings, only to be dissapointed later.

Yeah but he is being protected by third-string OL's and he's throwing to third-string wide receivers.

What has impressed me is his poise and decision making. The only thing to complain about was his interception by a D-Lineman who dropped into coverage. But even that can be looked at as a plus in light of his post-interception reaction of not getting rattled and frustrated in marching the team back for a touchdown.

I'm with you there. Hopefully we don't need him this year, we do have Brett Favre. Perfect spot for him to sit and learn, then be poised to compete for the job when Favre ultimately retires for good. Not to say you hand the job to him, but certainly he's played well enough to be in the equasion, which for right now is hopefully all we need.

I don't think Ratliff ever starts a game for the Jets, hopefully though all this positive talk leads to him getting traded for a high draft pick next year.

Trade quality back-up QB's who don't make too much of a salary cap dent for unproven draft picks? Don't know about that.
