Pennington is perfect for that team. They have a good running game which the Jets do not. All he needs to be able to do is throw 5 yard passes accurately and nobody in the history of the NFL has ever done it better than he has.

Great! We're going to win September 7, 67-0 (ah'll guarantee yuh!)! Just put 11 men in the box since Noodle-Arm can barely throw it two yards! We're going to have four or five pick-sixes. It's going to be a massacre!

If the Jets are up by 3 or 4 with 2:30 left in the game, and Penny has the ball at his own 22, all Revis, Rhodes, and Lowery will have to do is sit on the out route to be thrown.

    Pick Six.

    Game over.

I know this because I saw him do it on our beloved team. More than once.

I do too. Everybody takes this game for granted and I agree we should win but if they are able to give us a healthy dose of both Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown and we are still as pathetic stopping the run as we have shown all pre-season then we will be in trouble. They will keep our offense off the field and Pennington will have a field day because we will be throwing 8 in the box to stop the run.

People base too much on the previous year. In the minds of many here the Dolphins are forever 1-15 and Chad's lifetime history as a starter is 1-7. In our first game under Parcells after our 1-15 year we went to Seattle and won 49-3. Granted Parcells isn't coaching this team, but on the other hand, their QB knows our offense better than ours does and he's going to be standing next to the coaches with a radio in his helmet when our O is on the field. Certainly not a given we win.

He also knows our defense as he practiced against it every day.

And the Jets defense knows Pennington as they practiced against him everyday.

Just go soak yourself, man. Root for the Dolphins.

And the D practiced against him.

It is easier to adjust the Defense than it is for Chad to change everything he is.

I still give the advantage to our team, but until the Jets are beating them by 13 pts, I won't be 100% comfortable. More like 90%.

And that's what I said too. We should win but it isn't the walkover everybody would like to think it is. We beat that 1-15 team by 3 points the first time we played them last year.

Ginn is nowhere near the talent of Coles and Cotchery so I'm not too worried about him at this point. The fin's beating a horrendous Chiefs team means absolutely nothing as far as what will happen week one. Jets win, no doubts at all...

All the bow hards down here are talking about Chad knowing the teams tendencies in certain situations. Well, this team knows a ton of his tendencies/weaknesses as well. God knows we've spent 8 years trying to hide them...

No but he has speed and a year of experience.

His route running his terrible at this point. Put Revis on him and make one of their other guys step up. This is why you draft a 'shut down' corner in the first round. I feel comfortable with our best cover guy against their best receiver. At some point Ginn might be a guy worth worrying about, but as of right now he's a guy that's all speed and hasn't proven he can take a big hit like LC and JC have proved. And if you're going to play with Chad you better be able to take BIG shots coming over the middle.

What actual does worry me is Ricky catching balls out of the backfield and running loose. I think with the uncertainty of our LB's in coverage right now worries me a bit more than Ginn and his family...

Yeah, but he is still going to be their leading receiver. Whatever that turns out to be.

I'm hoping for the 41-10 beating the second time around.

But it'll be a 7-10 point game. Its the win I'm sure of, but its the Jets - I think how they get the win won't be pretty.

I have to agree with you. I can actually see the Fins winning this game, I don't like Pennington's odds in New York though - assuming he lasts that long.

The Fins boards are booming with optimism over the preseason, and this team is without a doubt headed in the right direction, but I'm not nearly as optimistic. This is a 5-11, 6-10 team that will do really well next season. I'm looking at this as a season to build off of.

It is true that the running game is firing on all cylinders, the line is getting a great push up front and we haven't allowed a sack in two games but the WR core is very weak and so much of this team is lacking experience.

All things considered I really don't see a reason that the Jets should be overly confident heading into this game.

If the Jet-Dolphin rivalry lost some intensity the past few years, this will certainly bring a new twist to everything. When you go back and think about Jets-Dolphins, all the crazy games and scenarios over the years, this one will be right up there. The Mud Bowl, O'Brien vs Marino, Raul Allegre, the Fake Spike, the Monday Night Miracle--all those games all those years, now we have Chad Pennington making his Dolphin debut against the Jets a month after they release him. Brett Favre, of all people, who replaced him, in his Jet debut. It's fucking intense, another new chapter. I think it's going to be a classic game, definitely close.
