Pancreatic cancer is a real bitch. Unless the tumor occurs at the head of the pancreas, causing jaundice, often there are no symptoms until the disease is very advanced. A few days is very short, but a month would not be unusual at all in that situation. My mother's tumor caused jaundice and they were able to remove it (via an 11-hour operation) before other tumors formed, which is why she lived 18 more months.
Thanks dude. I'm certainly biased. I just don't like it when people who have no solutions of their own take shots at a guy who actually does something. It's easy to put your hand out and say "where's mine?" It's a lot harder to lead a union and please everybody.
Another classic example of the doctors giving someone cancer?the guy was in the office last week ? no problems, goes to the doctor, they give him cancer and he?s dead in a week. I?ve never heard of a single case of someone walking down the street having never been to a doctor and dropped dead of cancer. You go to the doctor first, they give you cancer, and then you die. Unfortunate that cancer is such big business here.
I really don't know much about labor negotiations -- but the guy had 207 consecutive starts as an interior lineman -- that's F'n tough. RIP
This is what someone was explaining to me today. Horrible, horrible disease. It pains to hear you had to endure it for your mother, I dunno what I'd do.
Is Vincent ready now? He seems to be a good possibility, but I don't know if he could handle the position at this time. Richard Berthelsen has been named interim executive director.
True story: A million years ago my brother is looking through our football cards, picks up Upshaws and says "think hes related to Eugene Upshaw?" As an executive in a labor union representing professional athletes he's no Alan Eagleson, but I doubt the rank and file is all broken up he's gone.
My father passed away from this horrible disease last September. He lived exactly 2 yrs to the date of his surgery. Theres not much hope when it comes to pancreatic cancer. Hearing about Gene Upshaws death saddens me and brings back sad memories. My condolences goes out to his family. RIP Gene.
My condolences. My mother's Yahrtzeit is tonight, as a matter of fact, so it's been one year by the Jewish calendar.
