Wow, the fan is an idiot? So that means you are calling at least half the people on this site idiots.

I was basically about to type the same thing. Favre could give him a career year, STFU, run your f*cking route, tip-toe into the endzone, hit the sidelines, shower up, and go home, bitch.

    F*ck you.

im kind of surprised to see this thread split down the middle. i expected more of the quit whining, get rid of him bs that happens sometimes.

however i have been pleasantly surprised by the fairly large amount of coles backing that i have read. very true jetfighter about his past and the affects of it on his personality.

i think he was justified, should he have said it? no absolutely not, but do i understand why he said it, absolutely. i would have probably said the same thing myself and dont blame him one bit for saying something that isnt PC enough for some people in this now pussy ass world we live in.

No, It doesn't mean that AT ALL. The reason the fan is an idiot, is NOT because of his opinion that Chad has a shitty arm and can't throw the ball as far as Brett can, he is an idiot because he's yelling that at a Jets' practice after they cut the guy. It is completely obnoxious and disruptive to be yelling that about a guy who the team LOVED and who was a fucking captain before he was cut. Of course he's entitled to his opinion. And I'm as thrilled as the next Jet fan about them landing Favre. But I'm sure LC was NOT the only Jet to hear the guy screaming like an idiot and to get annoyed. LC was the only one who lost his cool. Okay so he overreacted. Big deal. He'll get over it.

Coles should have been the bigger man here. He's a player and a role-model. There's no excuse for snapping at a fan... ever.

By the way, anyone seriously suggesting that we should trade or cut Coles (Our best receiver) because of his dissapointment over his best friend being cut less than a week ago, needs to give me a call and tell me where they are getting their weed. I'm in need of a new connection.

I just do not agree with the "customer is always right" mentality. I buy tickets so I can say whatever I want to these overpaid athletes. If the athletes show class, fans should show class as well.

Now granted, the obnoxious fan didn't insult his family, or say something personal, but Coles took it that way - Chad was a good friend. So what. Coles is a leader and just because he left the team before for more money does not make him any less of a leader.

That's such nonsense. There's no excuse for snapping at a fan, ever??? Are you serious???? You act like you have never had an emotional overreaction to something that you should have ignored. Why do you have such a holier than thou attitude?? You've never snapped at someone who was taunting you or a friend??? NO ONE is saying that Coles did the "right thing." What people are saying, however, is that what he did was completely UNDERSTANDABLE. In other words, being human and having gone through a similar emotional experience, it's easy to sympathize (or perhaps EMPATHIZE) with him. Thus, while he needs to work on controlling his emotions, the incident was not that big of a deal. Please chill with the self righteous bullshit - Nothing is more disingenuous.

My take on this is a little different: Coles has a great regard for Chad. Chad thought enough of Coles to offer up a couple million to help pay Coles' way back to the NYJs.

Coles is a man who stands by his friends. Also, he obviously doesn't share the prevailing notion that Chad's real name is "Noodle Arm", because of his inability to chunk the pumpkin.

Chad is no longer around the NYJs to kick around.

Insulting Chad when he is not around is a low blow to those men who call Chad 'Friend'.

Coles has his self-respect. He's entitled to it.

The asshole on the other side of the fence should be thrown off the grounds for trying to distract practice.

Coles did the right thing. He's still upset about his friend's treatment by the fans and his release by the NYJs. But this doesn't mean he isn't doing his job.

It should also be noted that there have been a number of reports that Coles is relating well with Favre and catching the hell out of every ball thrown to him, as well.

I readily say "fuck you" to many people. In fact, I've done it all my life when they've pissed me off. It's an appropriate response when someone wants to get your goat.

If fans wants to taunt Coles in that way, they should expect the same. I see nothing wrong with that response.

In fact, Fuck You for even mentioning it.

i can understand him being bitter if someone strikes a nerve.

having said that, it's one thing if this was the first time he complained, but this is another added to the list, so he's becoming a notorious complainer.

It would be great if the fans didn't have to bash Chad, just appreciate what he did. be happy we got favre but why bash Chad? I don't think Coles will be a problem but Chad was his buddy and now he's gone so he's upset and when an unappreciative fan yells out something stupid I don't blame Coles for firing back.

I dont think Coles made it a big issue he was defending someone that mocked his best friend.

if someone goes to the Jets TC and it making fun of Chad, who isn't there anymore, he deserve to be yelled at. What a loser. Chad is in Miami and you're standing there going off about old news. Pathetic.

Ratliff should have thrown a fastball at his nose.

It is interesting that Chad is the one that got cut and exhiled to the dolphins, but it's this dick who is acting like a 4 year old throwing a temper tantrum. Chad has handled himself with class and seems happy to be in a new situation where he feels he will be appreciated. I hope we trade LC in the offseason...I have had enough!!!

So if the new guy did a task well, and some guy said "Boy, old Joe could never have gotten that done so fast", you'd kick his ass even though you knew he was right? You know that in the non-football world that's pretty much a guaranteed firing, right?
