Coles is understandably upset that his friend got fired and the fan was taunting him. I'm sure he understands that Favre is much better, but it doesn't mean he isn't upset that his friend got fired.

I don't know what you do, or if you even work for someone else but imagine your best friend at work got fired for someone who was better. A week later the new guy finishes his first project and someone started yelling to you, "bob" could never do a project like that! Throwing it in your face.

I wanted Pennington out of here as much as anyone, but I understand why Coles was pissed. I would have done the same ... people do tell me I have anger management issues though.

I was thinking along the same lines.

The same fire that makes coles a great player on the field despite the ammount of punishment he takes also makes him do and say stupid things. Love him or hate him he will still go out and be one of our top receivers this season. I don't care if he tells the whole fan base to go F@#K themselves as long as he brings it on sunday and is not a problem for his teamates.

Well, I sure did not receive an 8-digit signing bonus like a certain spoiled whiny Jets WR, who should just shut up and play the game he's being paid a shitload of money for. He seems to be complaining about everything - not enough money, unbearable training camp, released teammate. Is he a T.O. wannabe? He sure as hell not on T.O.'s level in terms of playing football, but he's catching up as far as whining goes.

I don't see how the amount of money he makes changes getting pissed about someone taunting him. I hardly think he's anywhere remotely close to T.O. in the bitch department either. T.O. attacks team mates and coaches with his bitching with the intent to blow up the team.

Extremely unprofessional by Coles. That was not very classy by the fan, but he should of just ignored it. The last thing you should ever do as a professional athlete is say anything rude or offensive to a fan.

his act is getting really stale. the sad thing is, he's a team captin, and he is really setting a bad example for the younger guys. not so much for what he said, but for the fact that he is showing himself as being a "me" first guy.
he needs to look at how the signing of Favre effects the "team", not how it effects Laverneous Coles.
    he's not a #1 reciever, he's a posession reciever.next year he's gonna want to "re-visit" his contract, as he's said. i think he should "re-visit" the exit

I would realise that it is a business, and if the project was of a standard that i knew by best friend couldn't do then i would hold my hands up and say hey, it won't be the same without him but if this improve the business or in this case the organization then so be it.

There is no indication that the fan was taunting him, he was making a correct judgement, i understand people wanting to defend the team but he is a professional, a role model and a veteran player, he know's that it's a business, just because Chad's not on the same team doesn't mean they will never talk again. Like many others have pointed out he wasn't too upset leaving chad to prance off to Washington...

He should be delighted, with Favre actually throwing deep, it gives Coles a chance to incrase his stats and also his value next time he wants a contract.

I don't think it has anything to do with him not wanting Favre. He's probably stoked that Favre is there. He's just upset that his friend got fired and someone is throwing it in his face. Maybe that wasn't even the intention of the fan, but I can understand why he would take it that way.

Coles is the heart and soul of this team, no one sets a better example on the field then Coles does. Shut up a play the game? Coles has been playing the game as hard as anyone in the NFL. Complaining about training camp? A guy is not allowed to open his mouth about our grueling training camps when asked by reporters?

A TO wannbe? Has Coles EVER been a locker room problem? EVER? Has he ever called out one of his teamates?

Please dont compare TO's past actions to LC. Seriously Petrozza, what the heck are you talking about?

    Speculation

You guys are making way too big a deal out of this. So he told an asshole to fuck off, big deal. Also who knows the real details, none of us were there. Coles will be fine.

He needs to get over it. Hopefully, it won't affect him this season. It's not like Chad ended up as a third stringer on another team because of getting cut. Chad landed on his feet in another starting job.

I would hope that he wouldn't mind favre was here, but how many times in the NFL, lets open it.....how many times in professional sports, do good friends get traded or moved to a different team. I sympathise with him but at the same time he has to show control and restraint and not react to any baiting, even though I'm guessing the comment was completely innocent in intention.

I respect your opinion, and I think you're a better man than I am.

I once had a very good friend of mine fired - we worked at the same place. I understood why he was fired, and knew it was what was best for the company. I continued to go to work and do my job even though I wasn't happy about what had happened.

If anyone had said anything like this about my friend I not only would have said something but I would have beat the shit out of them. Of course if it were a woman I couldn't do that, but she'd have gotten a loud earful of distasteful things.

Holy toledo. This is a non issue.

Fan baits player, player vents, no big deal. It's not like he went up into the stands and hit the fan.

He is human, but is actions are extremely unprofessional.

Bottom line, without fans (if the NFL had no fans coming to games, or buying merchandise, watching games, etc.) he wouldn't have a job/or would be making a fraction of what he is. NFL players make what they do because the TV contracts that the league is able to get because of how popular it is.

If a customer came into a store and said something rude, does a employee have the right to say "F*** you" to the customer? Absolutely not. I see no difference.
