They went (7-9) Last year. Here is who they beat: The Jets Twice. (4-12) The Dolphins Twice. (1-15) The Bengals (A trainwreck in 2007) The Ravens (Who lost to the Dolphins) The Redskins (A couple days after the team lost Sean Taylor) What the hell do people think they are so good? Did they make a million offseason additons I am not aware of? Seriously. Lynch is a good player, I will give them that, but who else? I am still no sold on them at all. Redskins-Bills is coming up Next on NFL Network for those interested. I have read numerous reports (Pre-Favre) that the Bills are better than the Jets, I feel that even with Chad or Kellen the Jets are better than the Bills.
You forgot that the Redskins game was theirs due to a botched timeout call by Gibbs as well. But the went 7-9 with 14 players on IR. A healthy team would dictate a winning record, on paper. Trent Edwards looks like that guy that thought he was so cool in HS and College but no one could stand him. He loses too.
With Pennington or Clemens at QB, the Jets are marginally better than the Bills. I think Trent Edwards is a genuinely good QB, and they had a lot of injury issues last year that hurt them. I think the Bills are a 6 or 7 win team again. Thing is, that's the same caliber team I think the Jets were without a real starting quarterback.
Trent Edwards is very unpolished at QB. He's a good raw athlete...but so was Akili Smith Marshawn Lynch averaged only 4 yards a carry in his rookie season. I don't remember being all that impressed watching him against us. I remember 1 huge game he had against cincy. He seems to have alot of 20-22 carry 75-85 yard games. That's not a premier back.
Just like our trend this decade has been good year, bad year, good year, bad year the Bills trend has been get close to the postseason then have high expectations only to not fulfill them. It seems every other year they are a hot preseason pick by "experts" and they always fall on their faces. '02: finish 8-8 creating high expectations for '03 '03: 6-10 '04: Miss playoffs by game creating high expectations for '05 '05: 5-11 '06: finish 7-9 creating high expectations for '07 '07: finish 7-9 again I want to see them do it before I actually believe it. I think they'll be good and I think our teams have similar talent but they haven't proven they can get over that playoff hump yet while we have.
Their O-Line is good and their D should be a good one with Stroud and Pouszlusny comming back. Good O-Line+Good D = solid team.
a good young team, on the rise. Just like us. Only difference is, they've got a young QB, growing along with his team. we've got hall of famer, at QB, going on his retirement tour. This year, advantage JETS Next year-?
Their franchise LT is still holding out and it's getting really ugly. Edwards had a year similar to Clemens last year.
I know, but he´s got enough experience and a good chemistry with Dockery, so missing some Camp won´t hurt him a lot, if he is in shape. And i don´t think the Bills are dumb enough to let this get to a point where it it hurts his play for the regluar season. Edwards was a Rookie, Clemens had a year to learn from one of the probably best mentors in this League. And i saw a lot more flashes from Edwards than i did from Clemens.
Edwards had an O-Line but no Receivers. But yeah, he was in a better Situation than Clemens, but not that much better. And these guys can pick up alot in one year in this League, even if they don?t play. One more Camp, studing Film, running scoutteams or just listen to a veteran like Chad. If we could get Edwards for Clemens, that would be a nobrainer, imo.
I loathe the Bills but you have to recognize when there's talent present. Their D was destroyed by injury in 07. They have since added Stroud, McKelvin, Posluzny will be back along with the two other LBs they lost to injury, and I'm positive they made some more depth moves on D. They got Hardy or whatever his name is at WR via draft... Looks like a solid offseason to me but ironically enough they, like the Jets, will only go as far as their QB will take them.
To me, he?s in the bottom 3rd of #1 WRs in this League, and i think many #2 WRs are better than he is. Might have something to do with the fact, that i don?t really like that Lee Evans-, Santana Moss-, Berrian-Type Wideouts, at least not as a #1.
2 years ago he had 82 recs, 1292 yds and 8 Tds in 15 games w/ Losman at QB. Last yera the #s went down but they have a situation similar to ours at QB. He's as good as Coles & Cotchery, I would never complain w/ him being a 1 on my team.
