BEFORE Clowney torched the Browns for 2 long TDs I was talking up Clowney and Stuckey for the 3rd and 4th WR spots. I hope we don't see much of Brad Smith this year. Nothing against Smith, but he hasn't shown me a thing the last 2 years, and now that we have a QB with an arm let's use these jailbreak WRs. Bring back the Wesley Walker days when we had WRs who could get behind the defense--watch our running game improve too when those safeties move back. Give Smith his release so he can go play QB for some team, that's what he wants to do anyway.

We have a lot of WRs that can get behind the defense...especially when they are cheating up to try and stop our six yards and a cloud of your blood running game.

Coles, Cotchery, Clowney, Stuckey and Smith= a not-too-shabby WR corps Tom...Brad Smith will earn his way as a great gunner on ST's

no problem with Brad on special teams--I just think we have better WRs that could play ahead of him.

I would like to keep Brad. He was often times the lead blocker for Leon Washington on Kick Returns and made some nice plays to open some holes.

Brad Smith is a little too valuable as an all around player to cut. Special teams, trick plays, WR, I'm surprised they don't put him in at CB. But I agree that Clowney and Stuckey should make the team.

Clowney is a burner...pretty raw, but a promising project. I was pissed when the Packers cut him loose last year (when I WAS a Packer fan).

Hey, what do you guys think of Koren Robinson? He can still play and would come cheap. In addition, he is a good friend of Brett's. He would bust his ass for this team for the chance to play with Favre again.

Brad Smith does not have the hands to be an effective Receiver for Farve. He could not even catch Chad.

I think Robinson could make a nice addition to the Jets WR core...but there is a WR out there that I would love to see don the NY green. I'm waiting until I can open up my own thread, then I will share his name.

C'mon, the Jets have two proven WRs on their roster, two questions marks and failed QB-turned-WR. That is rather shabby.

    Hey GM-

Are his initials CH? If they are, you and I are on the same page. He would thrive in a spread offense, especially with Favre's arm. If he could put the character issues aside (as Koren did) he could be a great addition. Just let Brett take him under his wing.

You are leaving out Dustin Keller who is a WR trapped in a 240 lbs frame that can beat CBs and absolutely blow past LBs which is how the offense will use him to fully exploit his match up advantages.

ALSO, I would not be surprised to see speedy neon Leon Washington moved around on the outside a lot this year, very much like NO used Reggie Bush. You talk about match up problems, who do you focus on when Coles, Cothery, Keller, L Washington and Stuckey all split out?

Hopefully Brett "taking him under his wing" means he physically beats the bad out of Mr. CH...H...w/e. That guy would make this offense scary IMO...

Don't forget about a freakishly athletic TE who runs like a WR and will be a terror for LB's to cover. Throw in a vastly improved OL and Thomas Jones and Leon Washington will have very good years.

It's amazing what a QB with a strong arm adds to an offense.

Sooner or later the Brad Smith experiment will come to an end.

At this point, he's just a ST guy. Gadget plays don't do a damm thing. The one time he threw to the end zone he had the accuracy of Lamont Jordan, and on more than one play he showed "Becht Hands" when trying to take the ball in.

The supporters will tell you that it takes a while to adjust to the NFL, new position.

Blah, we don't have the luxary of time in this league. Either you have it, or you don't, when it comes to WR. There are more talented guys (Clowney, Stuckey) waiting in the wings to the point where Brad Smith's stock is dropping weekly.

I'd say that if he's lucky to make it out of TC that he's rock bottom on our depth chart.

LOL. Thanks for the laugh with your "accuracy of Lamont Jordan" line. Reminded me of Lamont's option pass against the Ravens nowhere near any teammate.

Clowney looks good out there so far if he keeps it up he's gonna beat Chansi for that 3rd Receiver spot.
