Chad's reasoning was probably that the Dolphins gave him the absolute greatest chance to start. And his earning potential for future seasons (because regardless of where he signed, it would essentially be a one year gig) is obviously highest if he can still market himself as a starting quarterback.

Whereas if he went to, say, the NY Giants and only got rare moments of mop-up duty he'd definitely be consigned to backup-level contracts the rest of his career.

It was clearly the best move for him and his family, which are the only people he owes anything to.

The Vikings and Bears were the best options. Maybe they didn't pursue him. Kansas City would not have been good either since they are not going to be winning. Jacksonville, New England, anywhere where he had a chance to win would have been great. All his "I want to win" talks were lies I guess because he went to a place he will not win. It just upsets me. And I am never mad a Chad. Unlike everyone else. Prolly for the Anti-Chad fans this is the best possible signing. The Jets will beat him up twice a year.

The Vikings and Bears both said they didn't want him.

Who says it was a lie? Sure, he wants to win. But the way you're describing him, it's like Chad Pennington is a nebulous concept, or a character in a drama that you either support or don't. He's not - he's a human being working in a profession in which the amount of years in which he can earn major money are severely limited.

why does everyone think that minnesota needs a new qb? tavaris jackson will end up being a very serviceable qb in this league in short order.

now the bears on the other hand, yeah they really NEED a qb. but chad is damaged goods and although 6 teams may have contacted him his best bet was probably with the dollfags, and the parcells ties are big too.

but now he is a dollfag so i must hate him as well. sure he doesnt need to have loyalty to me but i sure wont have any to a dollfag.

Either way, Chad is the best QB we've had since Marino retired. He's still the most accurate passer of all time and he has two stud RBs to fall back on. Call me a homer, but we go 10-6 with Chad/Ricky/Ronnie.

I just looked at the Dolphins roster and even with Chad they will go 6-10 tops. Most likely worse.

Chad Pennington: "You spend eight years there and, in the blink of an eye, you're no longer wanted there."

No, Chad, it wasn't in a blink of an eye," it was 8 weeks. Remember? The 8 weeks when you went 1-7, and threw all those interceptions, and were benched to see if Kellen Clemens was any better than you?

Maybe Chad took one too many late hits. Well, remember, Chad, "it's a privilege to play for the Miami Dolphins."

Unless your defense is allowing 10 points per game, you're not winning more than 7 with Chad. Brown is coming off a major injury, he won't be as good as he was last season. The receivers are horrendous, and the line isn't great. The Dolphins offense will be like the Jets offense last year. No line, two good but not great backs in Ricky and Ronnie (Leon and Thomas) and Chad at QB. 5-11 season.

Aw, man. I've always liked Chad, and I was sad to see him go. Now with the 'Fins, I have to utterly hate everything about him. Bah. What an insane offseason this has turned out to be.

Anywhere else would have been better, but I still wish him luck. One of my friends played for the Dolphins (and the Pats), so it's a little similar to that, hoping the best for the individual but not the team. I just hope he doesn't do too well in Week 1 or Week 17.

Wow, you are totally blinded. Pennington was winning or had already won the job in camp. Now, how does that fit your theory?

Oy. Well, I guess it's Miami's fans turn to twist that stat now. Y'know, Daunte Culpepper is not too far behind him.

People on the internet generally are a pretty weird bunch. Chad is a class act and has gone somewhere he was wanted and for a pretty good final pay day, I really dont see how you can slate him for this?
