They didn't think he was very good so they traded for his replacement and released him as soon as they could so he could get on with another team of his choice, depending on the demand. Treating him badly would be holding onto him for weeks to get something for him in a trade.
Not so fast, chief. There will be plenty of those the moment Favre tries to squeeze one in there in a reckless fashion and gets picked off.
They couldn't hold on to him for weeks. They had to cut him or find some other way to clear cap space for Favre.
That happens sometimes when your Qb actually tries to win a game. The day of the dink and dunk prevent offense are over.
To me it was much worse when Boomer Esiason was brought in and the Jets held a press conference with him and Bruce Coslet smiling holding up Boomer's #7 Jet jersey. Problem with that was Ken O'Brien, also #7, was still on the team. That was no class. This was a business move and Chad understands that as much as anyone, he said so last week. Agree with it or not, it was done the right way.
Sucks to see him go. He was an arm away from being great. Really smart football player. He will find success again in the NFL no doubt about it.
actually theres plenty of doubt....what with the fact that he cant pick his shoulder up any higher than John Mccain and can only fit in very specific type of offense, which is becoming less and less popular in the NFL. Good chance that he never finds success again. just sayin
