I didn't think it would happen. Nobody did. Even Tanny thought it wouldn't. No harm in that.

I admit it, I was wrong. I thought he was Tampa bound, however it means nothing.

Well, I can't stand up and reach the keyboard, so I'm sitting.

I didn't think it would happen. I have no problem admitting when I'm proven wrong.

As a Jets fan, you expect the worst  I thought the Bucs were going to get him and GB was just using the Jets to get the bidding war going.

Anyways, in my mind I'd rather be surprised that we DID get him, then the opposite where I thought we would and didn't (story of the Jets!)

I didn't think it would happen, but that doesn't really make me a negative poster....

I never said it but I thought it.

And I feel much more negative today than I did yesterday.

being our history you expect big deals not to fall through for us. So we just dont set ourselves up for disappointment. This shocks the hell outta me! Even at 38, Favre is in the Top 5 among active QBs. Huge pickup! I cant believe the Jets actually pulled this off. I hope that 4th round pick does become a 1st round by season's end.

I was hoping it wouldn't happen. Does that count?

Put me in this category. I never thought it would happen (and was against it) primarily because I thought the cost would be way too prohibitive.

Tannenbaum pulled off a HUGE acquisition here! Favre costs us relatively little unless we win. And even in that event, the worst we put out is a #1 and a trip to the SB!

A better question should be addressed to some of the naysayers who've criticized Tannenbaum (yes, there are some). There is no way they cannot admit that Tannenbaum has proven to be an excellent GM and, to the extent that Mangini has been on the same page, that both of them are a terrific combination.

The big story here is Tangini. I am SO glad we've got both these guys and hope they are with us for the next two decades!

I didn't mean overall negative, just negative on this one topic. It does make us relevant again no matter how it turns out.

Amen to that. Tangini has been pulling off moves ever since they came together. Give them a whole 'lotta credit for them breaking out of the "tradition" of not making any offseason aquistions.

I never thought it would happen in a million years. I thought the compensation would be too much for us and that Favre would never approve it.

Boy, am I glad to be wrong!

I'm willing to eat my crow here, but remember. Favre won't get you where you want to go.

That may very well be true, Zach. But there are positives to having Favre here for the next two years.

    1) As for QBs, Clemens, a bit of a gunslinger himself in college, gets to study behind the ultimate gunslinger. Make it happen... find a way to get it done, etc., instead of studying the mechanics of the proverbial "checkdown." Guys like Ainge get to develope and perhaps emerge as the next heir apparent and challenge Clemens. It's the best of both worlds for us, because it gives us a chance to win now and win in the future. It's a win-win.

    2) With all the new guys we've got, it takes all these guys to a higher level of motivation. They'll actually believe that "finishing" a play can make something happen, instead of turning around on most plays to find out the ball was checked down to Washington in traffic and he got 3 yards again.

    3) It give us a chance to really evaluate the talent we've got. Guys like Keller, in particular, can really flourish. And Stuckey, Caulcrick, some of the other younger talent that needs to develope in an atmosphere of getting it done instead of constant 3-and-outs.

    4) It even helps our Defense. An attitude of winning... or even that we can win... actually win now. So it motivates the entire team to think they can get it done and provides the incentive to shut down the opposing OFF and hold them to a few stingy points here and there, so that our OFF can get back on the field and score.

    It's all positive stuff.
