Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that veteran quarterback Chad Pennington is expected to be cut in order to create salary cap space for the arrival of Brett Favre. Pennginton?s release would instantly free up $6 million in 2008 cap room. http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/08/07/pennington-expected-to-be-cut/
Do we need to clear space immediately or can we hold out for a trade? (I'm looking at you, Minnesota.)
we all expected this. I will miss Penny, he was a great team leader and always put his arm out on the line. The heart of a champion. Too bad his talent couldn't keep up..
I've loved rooting for you, Chad. You gave us one magical season, and two others that weren't bad at all. More importantly, you were the consummate teammate and professional. Good luck.
He better not leave. He's my favorite player in the NFL, but I will be ok with him going to the Vikings... I love AD so..
Pennigton has done enough for this franchise that he should be given his release so he gets time to catch on with another time. Why hold out for a 7th rounder..
You are the one person who should not be mad. Odds are he will go to one of the other 20 teams you cheer for.
Cut? I thought we should at least have got a cup of warm beer for him. seriously though, he has trade value.
The injuries were frustrating but I have nothing but respect for Chad. Won a playoff game in 2004 with a torn rotator cuff, came back after 2 surgeries to lead us to the playoffs in 06.
