ESPN is currently reporting that Farve is still scared of NYC, and the coaching staff is currently talking to him, trying to comfort him about the trade. I'm not certain this trade will pay off in the long run. Lets hope for the best.
I think this is a horrible move. I hope that I am wrong come January, but I think I will be telling you "I told you so." He is old. His team that was one play from the SB, didn't want him and would have paid him millions to stay home. Doesn't that tell you anything????? Who cares if the Jets are on the back page or not or if ESPN gives the Jets attention. You can go on this board and get all the news and attention for the Jets that you want. Is this all that matters as a fan, that you get to say "look at me - I'm a Jet fan." I thought this was about winning and not attention. Favre hasn't won a SB in over a decade and had two bad years in 2005 and 2006. Next year at this point, the Jets will be $12 million poorer, short one 2nd round pick, and in search of a QB when this team is ready to start winning. Favre is not a teacher - he wouldn't give Rodgers the time of day so forget about mentoring Clemens or Ainge. Favre only cares about Favre. If Mangini can't keep Favre reigned in and playing a more conservative style like he did last year, Favre will be an interception machine. So those who think the Jets are going to be a verticle team, watch some film of the Pats from last year. Favre engineered a short passing game last year and will only succeed if he does that again this year. I'm just not happy. I hope I'm wrong, but I did not want a player that doesn't even know if he wants to keep playing from year to year or week to week. By the way, Mortenson is saying that the deal is not done and Favre may not report because he wanted to go to the Bucs.
It's hilarious listening to Mortensen trying to create drama, just so he can have a little more attention. He had to admit that obviously there was no problem and Favre will report. What a dick.
The Jets haven't won a Super Bowl since nine months prior to Favre's birth. Plus, they had two bad years in 2005 and 2007. So there.
Not at all. The Jets are a better team now. That's why I'm happy; not the TV coverage or the Pats' psyche.
It's ok, there will always be some contrarians. It's an easy argument to make, but it's still very wrong, regardless of the outcome.
He never recovered from reporting that Eli Manning was going to be out for the season last year around week 5. Favre to the J-E-T-S!!!
mortensen backed off favre not reporting very quickly. he's gonna play. if he doesn't we are right back where we started not the end of the world.
