IF we get him, I hope Chief Wiggum himself (Peter King) is the first to know, and the first to break the story. Between his man love for Brady AND Favre, the idea of them playing each other twice in a season might cause his head to explode. "Well Jets fans, you got what you wanted. Brett Favre is on his way to-" BLAM!!!!
In other news, Hard Knocks with the Dallas Cowboys starts on HBO tonight at 10pm, should be a good show.
Peter King of SI.com reports that the Jets are offering a conditional third-round pick for Brett Favre "that could rise to a first-round draft choice depending on the team's performance and how well Favre plays." King speculates that the Bucs won't make any offer that good and notes "that the Packers are not close to doing anything tonight."
Yeah, Nascar is an institution down here. Something about watching cars go in circle in 95 degree heat gets good ole' boys going.
If the Packers would rather have Brett in the AFC then the Jets should actually have to offer less than the Bucs not more. If the Jets have offered more than the Bucs (assuming the new is true - you never know with these reports) then why isn't a deal done yet? Is it because Favre still cannot decide on what to do and is reluctant to come to NY? Does he like the Tampa advantage of being able to play GB in week four? If he has to pursuaded to come to NY, how much will his heart be in it?
When will we know tomorrow? Ive been reading the BUCS basically signed the deal, now the Jets still have a chance? No one knows crap.......
If Jets get Favre, Chad to Vikes makes sense By Dan Leberfeld Posted Aug 6, 2008 It's no secret the Jets are currently attempting to trade for Green Bay quarterback Brett Favre. If that trade reaches fruition, what might happen to Jets QB Chad Pennington, the current leading candidate to start for Gang Green this year? Well it's possible that Pennington could be included in a trade with Green Bay. But an even better idea might be to trade him to the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings were Favre's desired landing spot in a trade according to many reports. However, the Packers refuse to trade Favre within their division. But the fact that the Vikings wanted Favre, and earlier in the off-season attempted to trade for Houston signal-caller Sage Rosenfels, speaks volumes about how they feel about their current QB situation. They plan to start Tavares Jackson, but he was very inconsistent last year, and doesn't seem great at reading defenses. And considering the Vikings are built to go very far this year with a great defense and outstanding running game, they could use a veteran quarterback, with experience in the West Coast system. Remember Pennington played in that offense during Paul Hackett's time in New York as Jets offensive coordinator, so he knows a lot about it. And Pennington has done some of his best work in domes, and the Vikings play their homes games at the Metrodome. Pennington excels in domes because he doesn't have to fight the elements which can be a problem for him with his average arm strength. And with the Vikings' fantastic running game spearheaded by talented tailback Adrian Peterson, Pennington would really be able to sell his great play-action skills. So if the Jets make the Favre deal, shipping #10 to Minnesota would make an awful lot of sense.
i know favre is better, i know chad is neve ganna take to where we wanna go, but when and if chad leaves the jets, i will be sad, say what you want about his play, but i never minded him representing our franchise and i always kinda wished he'd be a jets qb coach one day as silly as that is, i will shed a tear for you chad.............now that thats said, LETS WIN A MOTHERFUCKIN SUPERBOWL BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
