has anyone read anything on how these old dudes are working out, in their respective teams' training camps?
whats not to love, the guy is 100% class, AND he has a boat load of talent, i wish him nothing but the best and i was sad he didnt fit our system, i will be rooting for u 51!!!
I got this from a Nawlins' board: 7/24/2008 5:02 PM -Shockey and Vilma were in full pads. They participated in every drill and were not limited in anyway. ------------------------------- Posted: 7/26/2008 11:25 PM Re: The Official Training Camp Thread! JACKSON, Miss. -- He had been through precisely one practice with the New Orleans Saints, but Jonathan Vilma already fit perfectly. "I'm excited for my teammates because I know we're going to be good,'' Vilma said after Thursday morning's session at Millsaps College. --------------------------------------- 7/27? Patyon said LB Jonathan Vilma is showing no ill effects from the surgery that sidelined him last year. ----------------------------------------------------------- 8/1- expect big things from linebacker Jonathan Vilma, who looks really fast and fluid out there. ---------------------------- 8/2- The biggest addition to the defense was at linebacker where Jonathan Vilma should become the new man in the middle. Head coach Sean Payton says he wants to keep things competitive and has been rotating Vilma and Mark Simoneau around at the position. Vilma is healthy and says he's close to 100% back from his knee injury. Even though they aren't actually tackling all the way in today's scrimmage, it will give everyone a chance to see him at full-speed. Vilma has talked a lot about how happy he is to return to a 4-3 defense, so he should be even more motivated and could provide that extra spark to the linebacker corp. -------------------------- 10:41 a.m. Nice coverage by Aaron Glenn, sticking to his receiver like glue and breaking up a pass fron Brunnell. 10:50 a.m. DE Bobby McCray's quick instincts just forced an incomplete, getting his hand up and tipping a Brees pass. That's a wrap for today's practice. I'll be back with some notes after the presser. --- Looks like he'll be a good fit there.
vilma is rotating with simoneau to ensure he doesn't hit 85% playin time & they don't have to upgrade their giants ante which is unfortunate for us.
its good to hear good things about guys who were once on the team. i am not one who feels that they are gone i dont care about them anymore. or have hatred for them. i always hope that ex jets do well on their new team. with that said i hope vilma shines for NO but i also realize he will probably be better there than he would have been here.
Was there ever any closure on whether or not or to what extent Vilma was injured last year? Wasnt there some reports that Vilma and Mangini were at odds aout this?
] the reports were speculation, or from anonymous sources. I imagine vilma and mangini/tanny determined that he would be traded by this season, and it would be in his best interest to get the surgery he needed right away, so he'd be seen as 100% by the time Training Camp rolled around.
