There are reportedly "rumblings out of Panthers camp" that the team is fed up with Steve Smith and is considering trading him. There is reportedly a feeling that Smith's become a "divisive" personality on the team, and some Panthers vowed to discipline Smith if the coaching staff didn't. ESPN's Matt Mosley suggests that Dallas would be interested. We'd guess that many others would too. Smith doesn't have an unmanageable contract and is a top-ten receiver. Still, the odds are heavily against a trade. Source: ESPN.com WE need a home run hitter and there is hardly a WR faster than smith. Any takers?
I say if they could get Smith for the right deal go get him, he is a top ten playmaker and having him in our line up would be great, COLES COTCH KELLER SMITH JONES WASHINGTON throw in either QB and away we go.
finally an answer based on thought. Yes, realistically I think the panthers would try and rake way too much in because a lot of teams would be interested. But he would be amazing, we could start 3 WR sets like the pats did last year.
lol anything short of 19-0 would be a disappointment. We would copy what the pats did last year right, cause they did that.
Well worth a 2nd imo. He's one of my favorite players, a true game breaker in every sense of the word. Not to mention he puts up huge performances even when defenses have literally no other threats to worry about. I know he's had some injuries, but when healthy he simply DOMINATES. Because Jake Delholmme is known for his huge arm.
I would trade LC and a fourth rounder for Smith. Coles is going to be complaining immediately after this season about his contract again and Steve Smith is the best receiver in the NFL, in my opinion.
Smith might not be the best WR, but he's probably in the top 5. His numbers (87-1002-7) were excellent last year especially when you take into account the bums (relative to other starting QBs in 2007) who were throwing passes to him (Carr, Testaverde, and Moore after Delhomme went down early to injury) and the fact there was not another dependable WR on that team.
Terrell Owens is better, so is Chad Johnson. Randy Moss. I wouldn't want either on the Jets. That said, I also wouldn't want Smith. We don't need a head case. I'd definitely take Anquan Boldin, Andre Johnson, TJ Houshmanzadeh, Reggie Wayne, Braylon Edwards, maybe Torry Holt before Steve Smith.
