thanks for coming out, Artrell Jets | Hawkins retires Fri, 1 Aug 2008 11:16:45 -0700 Randy Lange, of NewYorkJets.com, reports New York Jets CB Artrell Hawkins has decided to retire from the National Football League Friday, Aug. 1.
Lowery must be making the other CB's (besides Revis) look stupid during practice....including Hawkins....which is my assumption why he's packing it in. I view this as good news...as Lowery must be really turning some heads at camp.
huh? wha? Woolfolk, Miller, Poteat, Barrett, Coleman...I don't you can chalk anything up to just Lowery's presence.
Woolfolk was cut on the July 29th. but you could be right...the other CB's you mentioned could be doing well also...i just keep hearing about Lowery.
Don't forget Ahmad Carrol (42) and James Ihedigbo (huh?...44) are turning heads also. We've got some good DBs in camp this year...plenty of competition.
thanks 227...i totally forgot about Ahmad Carrol...i hear he's had a couple INT's already. I hope he makes the team....he could be a real find if he ends up making the final roster.
Well I hope he can be good.....cuz he was a high draft pick so...... Too bad we lost thsi guy though. I mean, he does have starting experience. I think this offseason they haev used the shotgun approach to filling the need at the other corner....bring in a bunch of guys and hope one comes out better than what we've had the last few years. I want to say that Barrett can't be the answer again....but we have to keep in mind that the pass rush is also very important.
Well, as veterans go, I watched Hank Poteat on Wednesday for a while and he looks completely healthy to me... no limping, out there chasing for the ball, etc., so it's good to see we've got him and we've got some depth there... enough for the time being, I think. Mangini was smart to load up on DBs... can't have too many of them in this league. Plenty of competition out there... a guy could write a TC report on just DBs alone.
Yeah, Hank works. Good to have a guy like that on the roster. You never know once the season starts...
Well, besides the guys that are already out there, they brought Nate Lyles back up this afternoon. He's a Safety out of Virginia who was at TC earlier. Now we brought him back up again, so they must see something in him. Mangini is really loading up on the backfield competition!
I think GM must mean he is the type of defensive back who goes for the INT at the risk of being burned instead of playing more conservatively.
