http://bleacherreport.com/articles/42463-leon-washington-is-the-new-york-jets-go-to-guy Possible by end of this year?
Yes...very possible...something I'd like to see happen sooner than later. Then pair him with a really big dude like Tony Hunt or the like for Goalline/Short Yardage carries. He's our Reggie Bush without all the fanfare, draft picks, or money.
That youtube video from that link is friggin hilarious!!! "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!" Edit: Actually not sure if that's someone saying "Go!!" or not..
Leon Washington is going to kill people this year. That little dude can bench that much?! Yikes. One of the things I am most pleased with about Justin Miller's return is the effect it will have on Leon's game. Fewer returns means more plays from running back, which is how we want to use him. And on the handful of kicks he does cover, Miller and Washington in the end zone ready to return will really help field position.
If Miller ends up as the starting CB, wouldn't that mean Leon would be the primary return man? A 2nd string RB is much lower on the totem pole than a starting CB...plus that's how JM got injured in the first place.
He's always been analyzed as the poor man's Reggie Bush, but with more traditional RB capabilities. I have complete confidence in this kid to shine this year and add to the highlight reels.
kind irrelevant to "real" football, but what round would you take Leon, in FF? figuring the OL will be better and he'll be used more...
I would handcuff Top 20 RBs. Thomas Jones will be a top 20 back. You draft Leon if you draft Thomas Jones.
I have always loved washington because the first time I ever went to the draft it was on the second day and the Jets pick was Leon and he has not let us down I would see him getting alot more reps especially if they draft a running back in 09
I said he could potentially do it when he was drafted, and I think it's a possibility one day. He's well proportioned for his height, and he's definitely got more power than he's given credit for. He could do it, but I'd like to see it rather than hope for it.
Many thought Westbrook was too small to be a feature back, we can only hope Leon proves people wrong again....
I've always thought he's had start potential, and he just keeps improving. And now he's much stronger than before, definitely possible.
Size says no but i think he can. He was our leading rusher in 06 when everybody else was shit but he still wasnt really the feature back. I Think he def can.
Everyone said that Maurice Jones Drew was too small to be an impact running back at the NFL level. That turned out pretty well for Jacksonville. Let's hope our offensive line can crack a few holes for Leon this year to really showcase his talents.
I just want to see Leon get more tocuhes whether he's getting more carries or we are throwing the ball to him. The man is a playmaker and good things always happen when he touches the ball.
He was not a factor at all in the passing game last year. He is not a good blocker. The offense is going to have to become much more dynamic for Washington to be truly effective. If the Jets can figure out a way to stretch defenses vertically, then Washington will have a chance to shine. This is officially my 10,000th post here.
Thats who i always think of when i see Leon, never really Reggie because Reggie is a utility player in every sense of the word. Hopefully he can become somethin like that this year it took Westbrook 4 years to become a full time rb hopefully it takes him less time.Even if leon becomes a full time back we should still draft another back to compliment him.
except it's been reported that he got much stonger this Offseason, specifically, lower body strength, which leads to his explosion into a block (i.e. picking up a blitz). as far as the passing game goes, that's on the CS to get him the ball.
