How about a conditional 2nd if we get it from the Saints, otherwise a 3rd and...Clemens (who was a 2006 2nd round pick). I think I have the formula.

I'm at the point where I'd rather see Elvis at TC than a Farve sighting.

Seriously, we're a month away from our season opener. Can't somebody please put an end to all this bullshit already? Tannenbaum? Mangini?

Come right out and state "Although we have explored the possibilities, the NY Jets are now not at all interested in Brett Favre!"

I agree that the FO should come out and say all that but since they haven't done so, I can only think that they are still going after him! Just my lousy 2 cents in this 23 page thread!

Yep. i think that ship has sailed by now.

Edit: But I'd be happy to see him in tc if the deal ever got done.

per profootball talk at 9pm Farve to Jets getting serious

REPORT: PACKERS, JETS IN ?SERIOUS TALKS?
Posted by Michael David Smith on July 31, 2008, 8:53 p.m. EDT
The Green Bay Press-Gazette is reporting that the New York Jets are in serious talks with the Green Bay Packers and Brett Favre?s agent about a trade that would send Favre to the Big Apple.

In fact, there?s actually a headline right now on the Press-Gazette web site reading, ?All But Over: Favre to Go to Jets (It?s Over: Favre traded to Jets)? although there?s no story under that headline, and it has the appearance of something that was mistakenly put up by an overzealous web producer. (UPDATE: That headline has now been removed.)

However, there?s no mistaking that the Press-Gazette is reporting that the Jets ?have shown a growing interest? in Favre, and they now appear to be the favorites to land him.

Favre was reportedly planning to fly from Mississippi to Green Bay this evening, but he has apparently now canceled those plans

Just when it looked like it was over. I wonder if he had a change of heart about playing in NY. Maybe he realizes the Jets are actually a decent team and he has a chance to take them places.

Also, the Jets are in a GREAT position regarding compensation. The Packers will gladly take whatever we offer. If they ask for too much, we simply threaten to walk away and they are screwed. We could wind up getting Brett Favre for very cheap.

Favre is the starter. Penny and Clemens can go fuck themselves. Ratliff the #2.

Oh wait, who's on the Cover of the really popular football game??? Same ol' Jets.

Considering the packers situation, this better not be expensive.
