25 yards is fairly deep for a slant which is usually a short route.

Good point. The fade route is something the OC has a hard-on for. Coles and Cotch ran that route countless times the last 2 years, and its pretty predictable now.

Power runs would be nice, or even a comeback route. There have been reports of the TEs being used over the middle as well.

Sidenote: How the Hell is a 5'9 Drew Coleman disrupting passes to a 6'6 Marcus Henry???

Ha ha. So much for easing up in camp. He's threatening to kill them. For some reason it seems to me perhaps that Mangini was persueded to ease up against his own desire to run a strong camp. And now, he has no problem to throw down the gauntlet if he doesn't get his execution time and again. Nice motivational tool there.

Its nice to see him show some fiery emotion. Mangini has always been known has an even keel guy, but to hear him say that makes me as a fan believe in what is leading the team I root for.

Yes! I hate that fade route! It rarely seems to be successful. Maybe a tall receiver like Henry can eventually make it work when he gets some more reps with the QB's.

I agree we call/ed that play too much; but we also don't know the scenario during this practice: maybe there wasn't enough time to run the ball; or maybe they called the fade so we can get better at it since we've used it so many times without success.

i'm just saying, we don't know what the "game situation" was, so we can't jump to a judgement about the playcall (though I agree, if they had to pass, then try another play).

I think the last time it worked was against New England in 2006-the game we won...Cotchery over the top of the Pats' midget DBs

You're right about the situation..didn't really think about that. But I still hate the fade. It's like you've given up on being creative and are just going to throw one up there.

agreed. and what i don't like is that it's a boom-or-bust play; you don't have any other options, like scanning the field, multiple receivers, dump-offs, even scrambling in for a TD.

i kinda like the play-action rollout play where you dump off the ball to a fb or te running a flat.

idk, everytime i see it it seems to work...

Agreed. Actually any play-action (with or without rollout) always seems to find the TE wide open. I don't know why the Jets don't run it more often. Now that they have more TE threats (Franks and Keller) they will run this more often. I hate the fade.

also hate the fade. I like it as a back-pocket, two man game when it's obviously there, but to call it in the huddle is stupid, if you ask me.
