With a BABIP of .400. He hasn't been good for 3 and a half years. Don't get me wrong I think its a good deal for both teams as the Yankees had such shit at catcher that anything would be an upgrade. I just don't know where the people saying the Tigers should've or could've gotten more for this guy are coming from.

Why can't this just be a good trade for both teams? That can happen, you know.

Waldman said Farnsworth was in tears.

The guy always seemed like he hated it here. WTF?

Good trade for the Yanks even though Pudge isn't the same without the roids...

he's better than most catchers, and he can hit a hell of a lot better than Molina or Moeller.

because I think the guy is still one of the better catchers out there, and Farnsworthless is a crappy player.

I guess Detroit just wanted someone to take the salary off their hands. Should've sent him to the NL.

It's a good deal for both teams. Detroit needs bullpen help and Inge has been starting about half the games at catcher anyway. The Yankees need a catcher who can hit, Puge isn't the player he was I'd bet he ends the year with an OPS in the mid to high 600s, and gives you below average defense, but he's still an upgrade from what the yankees are runnign out there now.

Good trade for the Yankees and Tigers. I actually feel Farnsworth was doing pretty good this season.

The trade of a potential type A FA for A type B FA isnt value though, which is why the deal sucks for Det.

BOS,FLA along with a few other tams were looking for a catcher, if your Detroit you should have put him on the block and see what others would offer. By Cashman's response at the press conf., sounds like it was a deal that just started a few hours back.

That was the downside part of the deal for Detroit, they must have been really desperate for bullpen help to give up the draft picks for a player like farnsworth, but the money saved could be enough to get a good player to negate the loss of the draft picks.

Lots of stupid people here. If the Yankees made this trade for Ramon Castro from the Mets Yankee fans would be crying, BUT Castro has been up 200 TIMES LESS than Rodriguez and has more home runs and 10 fewer rbis. Rodriguez is just another old steroid user who is a distant memory from the numbers he used to produce.

The 9th hitter will have a .295 average as opposed to Molina's 229. Pudge is a leader in the clubhouse and can light a fire under anyone's ass. He's been known for it in Texas, Florida, and Detroit. This was a fine trade. Why complain?

It's a good deal for the Yankees but not great. Pudge is batting .295 which is far better than Molina or even Posada when he was here but Farnsworth has been pitching pretty good in that setup spot. Very good actually. They have nobody reliable to be the setup guy now and it will be a patchwork mess at best. The good thing is it frees up another roster spot (Moeller) so they can still go out and make another trade or two in the next 24 hours.

Pudge's contract is up at the end of this year so it's really a perfect deal. Who knows the Yankees may have even gotten Detroit to pay some of his salary.

It'll be interesting to see how the pitchng staff does with him, if there has been one big knock on pudge even when he was good, it was that pitchers didn't like the way he called and caught the game, also that he can't handle balls in the dirt.

What? You realize the move was made because they have an abundance of relief pitching, and it won't be a patchwork mess?

Also realize that this is a double-upgrade. Pudge is far better than Molina. Molina is far better than Moehler for the relief-days.

Kyle Farnsworth is also slightly insane.
