awwwee... come on now... let me guess you have a one of those life size Penningtons in your room over your bed...:eek:hmy:  (it's a joke...)

I like Pennington as much as the next guy... but it's apparent that he can not bring us where we'd all like to go... the Super Bowl. Nice guy, great team guy, and a good back up and one day a great coach if he goes that route. But thats about it

He's a great guy... and he's likely the best we have going for us again this season. Barring some very fast maturing process on Clemens part. The search will continue for another QB in 2009, for better or worse.

    # 12. He gives us great highlights on sports center every year of our receivers getting laid out trying to catch one of his wobbles.

They weren't booing, they were applauding.

Yes sorry for that mistake. We were actually cheering for Clemens coming in... from my own point of view at that game, not CP getting hurt. Of course it was twisted around. I really enjoyed driving 3.5 hours home after that game, to put on ESPN and see them list us as the worst fans ever. It was a great way to cap off that Sunday.

    But I digress...

Then he is definitely not the second coming of Tony Roberts, judging by our record last year!

here's the most simplistic way of looking at the Chad-dumpoff/Clemens-downfield INT debate:

with Chad checking down all the time, there's no risk and therefore no reward.
with Clemens throwing downfield (and more susceptible to throwing an INT), there's the risk of an INT, but the reward of a big play, which in turn changes the opponents' defensive gameplan, and perhaps leads to points -- in case anyone forgot, those win games.

all those who say now Chad has a running game etc... what happens in Round 1 of the Playoffs when the box is stacked and/or we face perhaps a top 5 team in Rush Defense? based on y'all saying Chad needs a running game, means that in this scenario, he'd be completely ineffective because the running game would be shut down; which we saw against the Steelers in '04 when he lead the Offense to 3 points.

This is the main reason Chad should sit. People feel to realize that Sb caliber teams will shut down our running game in the playoffs and make Chad throw. We will not miraculously blow playoff teams off the line of scrimmage and definitely not three weeks in a row.

Do you expect the Jets to put Kellen under center and start launching balls down the sidelines every play? Sure the threat of the deep ball can make a team respect the passing game, but what happens when a short/ intermediate pass is needed and the friggin guy can't read the defense or look a defender off of his target?

And you're arguing that KC can do this? If the SB caliber team forces KC to throw, we are just as likely to lose. If you're arguing that we have NO real QB, then fine. But saying Kellen is the solution to the problem is far from the truth.

Kellen can throw. That is the difference. There will be some picks but there will also be some scores as well. I would rather lose trying to win by taking some chances as opposed to dink and dunking my way out of the the playoffs the Cowardly Chad way. I didn't say Kellen was the solution. We have not had enough time to evaluate this. One thing I am saying is after six years we know Chad is not the solution because we have given him his precious running game and defense before only to see the above mentioned strategy play itself out time and time again in the playoffs.

Say what you want about Pennington, but the eruption of cheers and applause when he was injured was probably my lowest moment as a Jets fan. I, for one, was embarrassed.

Don't kid yourself and say that it was all about Clemens' entrance, either. We all know what that was. At best, it was disrespectful behavior. At worst, it was wholly contemptible.

Yeah I still don't buy that. I was there, and we were all cheering for Clemens coming out. We had hope with him, and we were tired of Chad. I honestly never even THOUGHT that at the game, I only heard the story 3 hours later on ESPN.

Maybe I'm wrong and most of the fans were cheering that CP got hurt, but I don't buy that at all. He hopped off the field and Clemens was running out, all I remember was everyone around me (and myself) shouting for Kellen to step up. Of course, that didn't work

Very true. Running is opened up by the passing game, and also the THREAT of vertical plays downfield which keeps the safeties honest. Chad cannot do that and they simply load up the line with 8 otr 9 daring Chad ro throw over top which he does once every 10 games or so.

So you go with Kellen "the INT machine" Clemens, right?

In 2007 Pennington had 9 INT's and Clemens had 10 - so if Clemens is "the INT machine", what is Pennington?

edit: And please don't say you're going by the TC practices - I remember all the Penny fans insisting that pre-season games were meaningless last season and his terrible performances/INT's didn't mean shit. So if a pre-season GAME doesn't mean shit, what does practice mean?

If we had a quality starting QB, none of us would be arguing. Fact is, we don't!! So people don't want CP starting because of his arm strength, and yet he's beating KC in the QB competition. So what now? We simply don't have an answer, so we'll continue to rant about which inept QB should start.

    :shit:
