Thanks neid92. I used your Nock pic from last year so thank you. Hey does your dad have any good stories he'd like to ahre w/ the board? Coule we get a chat or just have him posts some memroies of '68 & '69? I found an article on him though I'm sure you saw it already: http://www.heraldtribune.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070203/SPORTS/702030426/-1/RSS06 He was always hurt, he was good when he played but he could never stay on the field.
Yeah, he had that one big pick to seal an important game. I want to say Denver in 2002, or Miami at home, one of those from 02.
Here's my annual contribution: A lasting symbol of the 1995 mess. He was huge in that Miami win, though, that always has to count for something. Augie Doggie--loved that guy. He was always moving forward. Marion Barber was supposed to be the fullback on that team but he got a concussion in his rookie camp and Augie became the FB. Barber eventually became a nice ST player.
We could probably never do that now for that long. Ironically, wasn't it Freeman whose name was at the forefront of the free agency battle?
He was a good RB in the pre-Freeman years as the Walt Michaels team was coming together. Long, Scott Dierking and Bruce Harper were the main guys in between Clark Gaines and Freeman McNeil.
I plan on going over Sarasota this weekend. Let me see what he has to say, and I will try to get him to post some stories from his playing days on the site. Just let me know where on the board you would like for them to go. I do know that he plans on going to the 40th reunion in October. The Jets play the Chiefs that weekend. Once I have more information on that, I will let you know. That article on him was posted because Todd Johnson of the Bears then, played at my high school, and my dad coached him on the JV squad.
Yes, Freeman's lawsuit set the stage for FA. he never wanted to leave the Jets he just wanted players to have choices and to be able to maximize their earnings. he doens't get near the credit he deserves, more players should know what freeman did but it is forgotten. That would be great. We can ask petro(he owns the site) if he'd like to have a chat or if your Dad can just write down some mstories for an article on the front page. Any chance yoiu'll be going w/ your dad to the 40th reuinion game? maybe you can get some good pics? Anything you can do would be greatly appreciated.
I plan on attending the game with him. I will take as many pics as I can. When I get back, I will post them to the site.
