I'll be curious to see what Sexson does(if the game happens) in his first real test w/ the club. He's obviously very good against lefties and has actually had good success against the sox over the last few years(not sure if the #"s support that but from the ball I've watched it seems to be the case).
they should start Sexson and Nady and I bet Lester doesn't have an easy go of it. http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/battervspitcher/NYY/07270 neither has a hit off Lester in their careers, though. Limited sample sizes because of Lester's experience, but Damon, Cano, and Melky have good numbers. Jeter, Stray-Rod, Cano, Sexson Nady-Melky-Abreu Damon at DH instead of Giambalco, maybe.
And betting already closed... But the best news of the night is that Joe Morgan will not be doing the game.
9 PM start. The field must be in bad shape, it hasn't rained a drop in Boston for over a half hour and they still need 40 minutes?
Not sure about Boston specifically, but it poured all night here last night and from about 3-7 again today.
Yeah, too bad they can't be like those super classy New York fans that like to threaten player's pregnant wives.
When I saw no Joe Morgan in the booth, I thought we might get some good announcing tonight. How wrong I was. I'm sure even Lester himself would be embarrassed by this verbal fellatio.
I was told Ponson was a steal who didn't need to be replaced in the rotation. What's happening!??!?! Oh yeah. He's shit. He's been shit from the moment he got here. Just now guys are hitting the ball with runners on.
watched the first 4 innings. not that surprising, really. Red Sox have always owned Ponson, and he's just not that good of a pitcher.
oh, and I didn't check whether anyone mentioned this earlier, but in the first inning when they displayed the graphic of the Yankees defensive layout, the Yankees pitcher was listed as... PAVANO!
