sure, the slide wasnt dirty. Hell, I always jump a foot off the ground when I slide into home plate, which a players ankle just happens to be on. Homer. Take of your shades, it was as dirty as throwing at Youk's head twice in a row. There was intent to take his ankle off....
Come on, it wasn't a dirty slide. We all know when the Yankees do it, it's dirty, but when the Red Sox do it it's gritty and hard-nosed.
Relax. Now maybe Arod can do the same thing to Varitek if the opportunity arises. Afterall, those 2 don't have the greatest history... I'm not a big advocate of the "retaliation" from both sides that has quickly transpired. But I will say that it's nice to know that the Sox pitchers aren't gonna bully the Yankees anymore w/o their being a true reaction..like under Torre.
A demand a face off....Yankees hardest thrower vs a Red Sox of their choice, vs Red Sox hardest thrower vs a Yankee of their choice.... I bet Joba wins this one....
why is varitek the only homo in baseball to wear a C on their shirt....like its the cool thing to do?
Hmm. So I just looked, and the last time I posted on here was during Joba's first start, when the prevailing sentiment was that Joba was going to be a mediocre starter, the bullpen was going to suck without him, and that it was going to be "a loooong season." I said reading this board was making me dumber (and I stand by that statement... my lord, people were saying some dumb, dumb shit). Checking out this thread, I see jonnyd has been banned. Although I agree with his final thoughts (Sox fans give Youkilis a run for his money in terms of whining, considering they're bent out of shape about four pitches that didn't even hit him), I can't say I'll miss his attempts at "analysis," overall. Perhaps the level of discourse can improve for the rest of the season? 10P10 seems like he knows what he's talking about, at least.
I don't know if jonny's been permanently banned. He called devil enough names, and given his history, he might be. Speaking of Cappy and jonny, here's an article on how great the bullpen has performed and been managed: http://www.nj.com/yankees/index.ssf/2008/07/ny_yankees_bullpen_plan_has_pa.html You know, the one that was supposed to be a pile of shit.
Maddening Red Sox team this last month. I get the same feeling this year that t had in 2004, when Manny was being a mouthy punk in August and they were frustrating to watch.
Nice to have a manager who can actually "manage" a bullpen. Too bad Steinbrenner didn't make that change after 2001. If not for Tampa and if the Yankees go on to make the playoffs Girardi would win manager of the year again in his first year with all they have had to overcome again this year.
Clemens is a fuckin' faggot. You must remember that the first time the Mets got to pitch against that raging homo was with Shawn Estes on the mound. Estes was not a member of the Mets during the 2000 World Series. Therefore, he was put in a real tough predicament.
Actually, the raging, steroid-usin' Yankees pitcher was the gigantic coward. Piazza was just doing his job hitting home runs off that queer. Rocket wasn't a real man and beaned him.
Clemens got his comeupance- both at the hearing, where he exposed himself as a lying, no-conscience phony, and on the field, where his acomplishments are now in serious question. What a putz he is, and always was.
Damon DH Jeter SS Abreu RF Rodriguez 3B Nady LF Cano 2B Sexson 1B Cabrera CF Molina C Not surprising (even yesterday I guessed this exact lineup for tonight).
"The Yankees did not have a scout in Toronto on Sunday to watch Jarrod Washburn, who had a strong eight-inning outing against the Jays. They already have seen him enough to make an evaluation and maintain their current stance in negotiations. The Yankees are willing to take on the bulk of the approximately $14 million still owed to Washburn for the rest of this year and next year, but they have no intention of including anything more than a marginal prospect in the deal. Washburn's overall numbers are not good -- 5-9, with a 4.50 ERA. But he has thrown better the past two months, compiling a 2.93 ERA in June and 2.67 in July." The Yankees are making a good move if they pass.
Good, Ramirez called their bluff. Now we will see that Boston punks out and if they don't nobody will want him anyway. This is hilarious. BTW, playing in Iraq is a good idea for him. "Manny Ramirez is willing to help the Boston Red Sox if the team decides they are better off without him." "If the Red Sox are a better team without Manny Ramirez, they should trade me; I will not object," said Ramirez in a telephone interview with ESPNdeportes.com on Sunday. "I don't have any preferences: I could choose a team that offers me the best conditions or one in the chase for the postseason. I don't care where I play, I can even play in Iraq if need be. My job is to play baseball," added Ramirez." http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3507249
There might not be a game tonight. http://www.weather.com/outlook/events/sports/local/38377:20?from=local_interact_map
