Maybe some people had medical issues.

Imagine playing your first Yankee game at Fenway...lol. Welcome to the big time. Both are expected to get there in time for today's game.

    Washburn?
    ----------------

Overall, I think this is a great trade. Ohlendorf failed up here. The pen is more than good enough, and will be even better as soon as Hawkins is released.

People are talking about how much of an attitude Tabata has, so we replace him with the known commodity of Nady.

McCutchen I'm fairly unfamiliar with. I just saw he had 3.58ERA in SWB, to go along with a 4-6 record. I can deal with that sort of "sacrifice". Again, getting Marte, a known commodity trumps him.

Karstens never impressed me all that much. He helped last year when we were treading water, but he isn't blowing the doors off anyone.

I like this trade a lot. Great work by Cashman to get this done. Does Cash get any credit now from his detractors? He got two highly desired guys while keeping the best of our blue chips in house.

He was on the Mets for 3-4 months(April to July) and then was dealt for Perez. What "clutchness" can he possibly show, especially since most batters are trying to get into their groove early in April. I do remember he was very good for you guys and was a guy who didnt play like he deserved to get dealt and was traded because Sanchez got into a cab accident(Thus Robert Hernandez was needed)

I think it was a great deal for NYY.

'Cutch is better than Coke, but Kontos is better than Karstens, so it's pretty much equal I'd say.

not surprisingly, Buster Olney says that the GMs he spoke to said the trade was very one-sided.

He also said the same thing about Washburn, that the Yankees aren't interested in giving up anything, if they're taking the contract.

Close and late games vs. early or blowouts.

I should try to find the stats.

Edit: Here's some quick stats from 06 (when he was a Met)
    Bases empty he hit .293
Men on and two out: .221
    RISP: .248
    RISP with two out: .197
    Bases loaded: .133

So far he has shown that ability as he's been awful at the plate but to be fair the Mets in '06 never faced any pressure until October. They ran and hid from the division almost immediately so he has never really played in big games before.

This is why "discussions" with junc are always so interesting. I mean is there anyone else that would categorize getting out to a big lead in the division early as running and hiding from the division?

Damn lets blast him after 2 games against Tim Wakefield and Jon Lester...Can you give him at least a month transitioning from Pittsburgh to New York? And his 1st series at Fenway.

    Nevermind...He's pathetic. Dumb trade.

They didn't have any competition, they were the best team in the NL all season long by a wide margin. Unfortunately they couldn't get it done in the NLCS but there was never a race in the NL East that year.

Who said dumb trade? All I said was he's been awful at the plate so far and he has been. I'm not giving up on the guy, he has barely played here.

    2 games junc...

2 games against Wakefield and Lester...

Let's give him no time to get acclimated.

Where am I not giving him time? I one of the few people on this board who doesn't go crazy after every win streak or losing streak. I simply said he was terrible in Boston- HE WAS! It doesn't mean he doesn't get time to start playing well. I'm not giving up on him, I just stated a fact that he was not good his first 2 games for us.

I don't even think their's a point rating him at all...

Flew in Friday night? To play Saturday at a park he barely knows and a knuckleballer? Then go against a very good lefty in Lester?

Yup, he was awful...Shoot the guy for having 2 bad games in different conditions...

unless tabata becomes an allstar, we will look back at this deal and laugh at how stupid the pirates are

You are blowing this way out of proportion. The guy was bad for his 2 games(make it 3 now despite his meaningless HR) that's all. It doesn't mean he doesn't have a chance to prove himself. he's not being labeled after 2-3 games.

He wasn't terrible. He grounded out 5 times, lined out once, flyed out once, walked once and got hit once. He put the bat on the ball and just didn't get many hits and against pitchers he never saw before in his life. Who did?

Their isn't even a point in rating his performance thus far is what I'm saying...

2 games, with everything that came involved...He drew walks over the weekend, got hit by a batter, and did OK off the Fenway wall...Sheesh, not everybody can explode on a new club like Sabathia.

I'm not asking him to have exploded, I don't care that he hasn't done well yet but the fact is he has been bad in the 3 games since we acquired him. AGAIN, it doesn't mkean he will continue to struggle, it doesn't mean I'm disappointed it's just a fact that he has sturggled in the few games he has played for us.
