I can't believe people want Favre..He is a Whinny Bitch.
Yet when a Jets player even speaks up most of you are throwing them on the streets.

    Fuk Favre.
He'll come in here, take 8 weeks to learn the system and start chucking shit.
End up going 2-6 with 4 TD's and 9 INTs and announce he is done.

All the While our season and signings have gone to waste.
    NO THANX!!!

If we get him, Trade him!

    Nice!

All right, so I want to go on record as saying that I have little interest in bringing in Farve.

With that said, its obviously interesting and intriguing. So I'll bite and pose a scenario:

The Jets acquire Farve for a 2nd rd pick and trade Penny for a 3rd to Minny or Tampa. As mentioned previously, the Jets would have to unload Penny for this to work. All right, lets here it....

Pennington and a 3rd. The 3rd represents the real value and Chad represents the financial flexibility for us and off the books for GB in '09. Or work out a threesome (mmmmm...threesomes) since the Packers don't really need (want) Chad. Send Favre here (there...I'm in CA), send Chad wherever, and send whatever from wherever to GB.
Pennington and Bryan Thomas straight up would be dreamy too.

Chris Mortensen, of ESPN, reports the New York Jets have been granted permission to speak with Green Bay Packers retired QB Brett Favre.

I'm not going to get all excited quite yet but I would LOVE to have Favre. But does anyone really think he would love to have us?

To repeat, there is no good reason to not want Brett Favre on the team; that is, assuming you are interested in the Jets winning.

The Jets will win more games with Brett Favre than without him. Period.

They play for the Jets and have the opportunity of a lifetime to be the leader of a team in the greatest city in the world. They need more pressure (motivation is the word you probably meant)?! They shouldn't be in this league if this is what gets them going.

Brett Favre is a giant attention whore and would love to be in New York.

Also, he probably realizes that this team is better than 4-12 with the roster additions. And he probably likes the thought of dueling with Brady in the AFC East.

    Yessssss!!!! Get Favre, now!

Give them a 2nd round pick, money, and Penny, if they want him.

Allow Clemens and Ainge to learn from Favre.

Take the spotlight off the Giants!

    And win, damn it!!!!

I agree with you that they would win more games THIS season. The question is whether the Jets are better off long term making this type of move. I think this moves only really makes sense for a team that is a QB away from competing for a Super Bowl which is a stage we are not yet at.

If one on one competition makes the position stronger, think what a ménage-à-trois could do for the position.

If Favre comes here there won't be competition, he'll be the starter.

Long term schmong term. If we win a super bowl ANY year you will be high for MANY years. Dynasties are overrated. The 1986 World Series was as fun and dramatic as all of the Yankees recent World Series combined. I'm STILL giddy from that one.

I'm sorry, but Kellen Clemens is showing zero signs of being the answer. If you have a chance to become a playoff caliber team for a few years, you do it.

You'd give a 2 and a 5 to get Favre. Nothing more, nothing less. And stop putting Pennington in the trade. NO ONE WANTS HIM cause he can't throw. Green Bay doesn't want him to start, doesn't want him to backup, doesn't want him to hold the clip board to signal in the plays. Stop wasting time putting him in these trades, like that's some value to make enable the Jets to somehow give a lesser pick. 2nd rounder and 5th rounder and Favre's a Jet.
