Every season CP sucks he starts out TC admitting something was affecting his play. Now this. His agent knows how to play the media. http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2008/07/pennington_reveals_he_played_w.html
BLAH, BLAH, BLAH! More of his b**ls**T! Like we couldn't have gone 1-8 in the games he lost! Let the Noodle was hurt he will take us to the Sb post begin.
It was pretty well known and discussed last year that he was playing hurt on the ankle last year and that it was likely affecting his play. Almost every year, except maybe 2 he has had some injury that has plagued him through the season. Sucks having a beat up QB, but those are the breaks. No worries.. he'll be back under center and leading us to victory again before you know it.
Our offensive line was so pathetic last year that even if Chad had not hurt his ankle at all, I will be kind and say we had a chance to win 6 games (assuming Chad plays all 16 games and Clemens is not brought in).
What other years has he admitted injury and made excuses? He didn't make any excuses last year when he was going through it, he could have sat out and watched us lose from the sidelines but he kept playing through the pain and never whined.
I don't know. Maybe he thinks he's helping the team by being a good soldier and playing hurt, but did he hurt the team more than help them by playing when he wasn't able to throw the ball correctly? It seems like a QB with a limited arm to begin with having another injury that severely effects his throws would not be very helpful to me. For such a smart guy, it seems like he could have made a better decision here and waited until he was healed up a little more. That's probably what would have been best for the team if the injury was causing poor throws. Not only did he hurt the team, but he probably hurt himself and his career. Poor choice.
I think he does it for the right reasons but I agree it definitely hurt us last year. In '04 when he came back it helped us b/c even hurt he was better than Quincy Carter but last year it hurt us b/c KC could have played more games and sped up the development a bit.
I agree. Ultimately the coach has to make that call because no player with a competitive bone in his body is going to willingly take himself out of a game, even if he should. In that business you might never get back in. Kind of like when Parcells snuck up behind Glenn Foley and grabbed his ribs to see if he was still injured, because Foley wasn't going to tell him. Mangini has access to the trainers, those guys work for him, they don't hide that information from the head coach. He has to get that information and make the call sooner than he did if that was the case.
If Chad sat out, everyone would be crying how he was a pussy and not tough enough to play through the pain. Similar to how people still blast John Abraham for sitting out that playoff game a few years ago.
Exactly. I can't fault a guy for trying to go, if he's hurting the team the coach has to take him out. You don't think objectively when you're playing, you always think you can play. I was pissed at Abraham for not even giving it a shot, especially in the playoffs.
Yeah, the last game before the Super Bowl, and a sprain isn't really the same as two torn ligaments either. I never even saw Brady limping during any of the games so I don't think it was even a serious sprain.
