I think 1986, he would be high on the list. That could have been the worst draft in the history of time. Only Haight and Nuu Faaola made the team, and barely. The second rounder was also an O-lineman, Doug Williams, and he didn't make the team. This was the draft following Ken O'Brien taking 62 sacks in an 11-5 season, so it was a tough team to make but figured it needed help on the O-line.
Yes, 1987 Supplemental Draft. Therefore, Seattle had no pick in the 1st round in the '88 draft. Stevens and Mirer were worse #1s made by Seattle.
If you want a good laugh, check out the 1975 Chiefs draft. As bad as the 1986 Jets draft was, it's not as disgusting as the 1975 Chiefs one.
I was very young, so I don't really remember Haight..but I often hear some of the older fans grumble about him.It sounds like he barely made the team his rookie year and rarely saw the field due to lack of talent. It's strange, however, that Ive seen some film from the late 80's in which he IS in the line-up and doesn't look half bad(Granted these are all highlight reels of the jets at their best). I've actually attempted to do some research on it but havent come up w/ anything. Would you or one of the other Jet fans who are alittle more well versed on that era elaborate alittle bit more on him. I know it's tough since he played OL and by all accounts is completely irrelevant aside from his draft status..but Ive really ben curious about him for a very long time.
