just wanted to lighten things up a bit, and pose the question: who is your favorite JET of all time, and why? Mine is Wayne Chrebet. i remember, when i lived in Floral Park, i used to schedual my vacation so i could attend training camp. i remember seeing this little guy, who had this funny way of getting off the line(looked funny to me). i thought, this guys never gonna make the team. little did i know. to me, Chrebet always represented the average guy. He always left everything he had on the field of play. He gave me some of the most exciting game experiences, of my life.Combine him with Vinny Testaverde, and i just get goose bumps thinking about it!! i still have a copy of every mondays daily news, during our run, in 98!what a time that was. In an era of Chad Johnsons, guys getting arrested for drunk driving, etc,it was great to have a role model, for kids, and adults alike,in Wayne. At least Kotite can say,"i drafted Wayne Chrebet! Sorry if this threads been done, but i just thought it'd be fun to see what everyone had to say.
Wayne for me too. Basically for some of the same reasons you mentioned. I even retired his Jersey and framed it when he called it quits.
Ken O'Brien. He was my first "Favorite player" and over the years I have grown to really enjoy his QB style on film. He got a raw deal when Coslet came on board.
freeman mcneil made me a jets fan i just enjoyed the way he ran the ball. close 2nd to victor green. always loved the way he came up and made hits.
Wesley Walker--not only a great WR, but the team he scored the most TDs against? You guessed it, Miami.
gastinaeu.i was a kid when he was dancing around like an idiot and thought it was great.he's the reason i'm a jet fan.....maybe i should hate him for it
Joe Klecko. He was the most impactful player the Jets had in the postmerger era and he made good things happen all around him when he was on the field. There's been nobody like him since he left the team, really not since his second injury. The closest comparison in the last couple of decades was Mo Lewis, but Mo wasn't that good.
Victor Green, should have been a pro bowler numerous times, but for some reason Lawyer Milloy seem to keep getting voted in when Green had better numbers consistently. Green played so hard, big hitter...loved him. I have met Wayne a couple of times at my Job...really nice guy.
Curtis Martin. I just loved the way he played. Others would be Gastineau Klecko TOOOOON McNeil Rob Moore Mawae Chrebet Hasty Clifton and of course: Adrian Murrell!!!
Chad!! My favorite Jet of all time has to be Chad Pennington. When he came off the bench to replace Vinny and lead us to a division championship and the 41-0 whipping of Indy in the first round, I was truly inspired and proud to be a Jets fan. I thought he had a chance to be an elite QB for many years, but the injuries have truly diminished his abilities.
Wayne Chrebet He is the reason why football became more than just a high school sport for me, and he is the biggest reason why I love the game. To me, he embodies an athlete, a competitor, and a football player. Growing up in Canada, I naturally was into hockey before football. Thanks to my Dad and the way I was taught to play hockey here, I picked up Wendel Clark as my favourite hocley player. Wendel was the captain of the Leafs, and he is what a hockey player should be. He scored goals, he led verbally and by example, he hit guys hard, he fought, and he took hits without getting up to cheap shot someone for it. Wendel was no primadonna player, he was a hard-nosed guy who knew he was fair game on the ice, and treated everyone else like they were too. To me, Wayne Chrebet was football's Wendel Clark. He took the hit to make the play and he got back up no matter how bad it looked like it hurt. He had a job to do and did it, and didn't try to impress anyone. He also fought the odds to get to where he was, and when his own teammate tried to tear him down, he was the bigger man, handled it with class, and went out on the field and proved that he deserved his spot. That is a football player. Regardless of the position, that is what the game is about. Wayne is a man's man. He played football with the knowledge that guys would try to knock his block off, and was OK with that because that's the game he decided to play, and when he got a chance to block someone he'd do the same to them. I know there have been tons of great Jets and NFLers, but in my time, I haven't identified with one as much as I did with Wayne.
I have to go with Pennington, the way he has given everything he has to this team is what a real team player and leader is. For all the bashing he gets now I think some fans forget what he has really been thru for this team.
Joe Klecko When 99 Was Acting Like A Ass All The Time Klecko Did All His Talking On The Feild Great Player Great Pro
