    and for the record Papplefuk said what he said and that was that "He would close". The fact that he actually said that is why it's an issue. If that wasn't said there would be no issue.

    He caught himself , backtracked and looked foolish after getting caught.

    It's funny that he thinks he's doing the "big" thing by letting the elder statesmen go ahead of him out of respect to the history of the game and position. As if 2008 Rivera isn't better than 2008 Papelbon. Regardless of the venue (except maybe Fenway), Rivera closes and it's not even worth discussion.
