Doesn't much matter, GB won't release him and if he goes back it's as a backup.

Do you even pay attention to football ?

at this point, Favre is a head case with this yearly retirement BS. Parcells KNOWS he is more than a year away(3-4 is his usual window) so it kind of follows that he isnt going to take a guy
that will get him from 1 to 7 wins (given the weakness of the team around him), only to start over next year.

I dont think we are getting him, unless it's a straight up swap for Pennington, (who GB could then keep, or release AND keep Favre out of the division).

The reasoning; right now, this team sees itself as a 10 game winner, and if the thought is that Favre gets them 2 more, putting them on equal, or close to equal footing with NE, (Which Chad does not do..Period)..then it makes sense... Favre can beat Clemens in camp, (which also means that you can extend his contract on the cheap while he is on the bench) Chad cannot

I want Clemens to take over this team. I want a young, up and coming. strong armed stud as my QB. Farve and Chad don't fit the bill. Clemens might or might not but its time to find out

Poor Aaron Rodgers. I thought he had it bad enough with the draft-day slide, but this is much worse. Imagine if they did bring back Favre as the backup! Every incomplete pass Rodgers threw, the fans would be calling for Favre; he'd be looking over his shoulder every second and would have no room for even slight failure that as a young QB, he is bound to go through.

If I were Rodgers at this point, I would just demand a trade. If Thompson doesn't make the decision right now that Favre is gone, then there's really nothing else the kid can do. He's been getting screwed with his entire career so far, don't be surprised if he's had enough. And if I were a team like our very own Jets, I wouldn't hesitate to send a pick to GB for him. Maybe a 2nd, moving to a first if he makes the playoffs.

I would trade Clemens and Pennington tomorrow for a one-year run with Favre. Let the Pack trade one of those guys and get whatever the hell they want.
Anyone who thinks sacrificing the future (Clemens) for such a run is ridiculous...it's been 40 years already. One SB every 40 years sounds like a a good rate for the Jets at this point.
I'm not interested in a dynasty, I just want one win in my lifetime.

By no means does Favre even come close to guaranteeing a SB; he didn't even make it last year on a team with more talent than the Jets. The Pats & Colts would still definitely be better on paper in the AFC heading into the season than the Jets with Favre. Sure, he would give us a chance, but he's no savoir.

The Packers don't need more QBs. Brian Brohm is going to be the starter there by 2009 or 2010 unless Rodgers plays very well and re-signs. I think it is more likely that Rodgers will bomb and/or will leave as a free agent.
The 3rd string QB is Matt Flynn and the team likes what they've seen from him thus far.

Yeah, but on paper we look more like SB contenders w/ Favre than w/ Chad and Clemens combined. And the dream or promise of a SB is really what I want every season. I don't feel like that's realistic this year, having any SB aspirations with our current qbs.

Compared to what the Jets have, Rodgers is a huge step up.

Copy that. Rogers has looked the real deal in relief of Favre and if I thought we could get him I'd be seriously happy. Unlikey though.

You are delusional. What makes you think Favre will roll up in New York and win a championship. If he is that good (he's not), who could fail to sign him in which case Green Bay will have him back at any cost. He would be a story in the apple for about six weeks and when reality hit home and things didn't go right he would go down like a fold up camp bed, he would decide he should have stayed retired and we would be in no mans land with Clemens a wreck.

Whoever is our QB will get my full support. If he is in Jets green, he gets my support, be it Clemens, Chad or even if its a blubber bo hoo, "I'm retiring, oh my".

You didn't address a point I made about the Jets blowing out the Pack in Lambue 2 years ago with Chad (coming back from his injury), throwing 4 first half TD's and basicallly embarrising Favre and his team.
