Well..it's being reported (on NFLTA today) that Favre's relationship with the Packers FO is somewhat strained and they're trying to convince him to stay retired.....I really believe if Favre comes back, he will be traded for a 2nd round pick somewhere....I'm hoping it's the Jets...because we become instant contenders with him behind center...IMO.

In a twist... I wonder if the Packers would consider trading Aaron Rodgers...his contract is up in 2009, and surely will tell the Packers FO to go fuck themselves when his contract expires, if they bring back Favre this year.

The so-called experts gave the Giants no shot to win the Superbowl at the start of the 2007 season.

Cotchery has been in the top 5 receivers in the NFL the past two season in yards after the catch. Imagine what he could do with an OL, a running game, and a QB with time to throw. He gained 1150 yards last year in 15 games with a putrid team. I can see him having a big year this year - 1300 yards and 6+ TDs.

As for Favre being a good teacher, forget that. He hasn't given Rodgers the time of day. While he may improve the Jets' chances this year, he does nothing for Clemens or the team in the long run.

IF the coaching staff was convinced that Clemens is not the answer at this point, and that there is no comeback in Pennington, AND that they will be addressing QB in next year's draft... AND the FO feels that Favre would actually be good for two years and not just one, and that the 2nd round pick we'd give up for him would bring us a high percent Super Bowl chance... then I say go for it...

That is a lot of ands though...

salary cap problems insure the jets won't be making a trade like that.

after june 1st, the teams could swap farve for noodle even -up, and both teams can spread out the cap hit over 2 years.

Below is a link to a recent article in "The Packer Report" , (an online source for info regarding the NFL football team and not an update on the quality of gay life in Wisconsin).

The conclusions drawn as to which teams would be the most likely landing spots are rather interesting. I do disagree with the writer's assessment, however, regarding the Jets' competitive potential in '08.

I agree with his assessment of Favre and the NY media. This guy is in Green Bay and he's the top story on SportsCenter every time he sends a fax, I think NY would be a culture shock for Mr. Favre.

I am of a different opinion on this. While its true that the light cast from the New York Media burns 1000 times brighter than it does is Wisconsin, there are several reasons why I don't believe it would necessarily be as tough a situation as some are making out to be:

Brett Favre is and always has been (by FAR) the most written about and pursued celebrity/sports figure in the state of Wisconsin. They've got nothing else going on or to write about. No one gives a shit about anything other than the Pack. In New York, however, we've got no shortage of polarizing and/or bigger than life sports figures and teams who command the spotlight at various times. Comparatively speaking, Wisconsin is a ghost town on every level compared to New York.

Secondly, He'd only be here (if at all) for one year (maybe two at the most) so its not like he'd have to endure much press related discomfort for long and if he performs anywhere near expectations, he'll be treated like a white knight (and with kid gloves.)

If by some miracle we land him, it will be the first time we'll have had a clutch hick with a swagger and a cannon since Broadway Joe.

he gets most news way ahead of time and never reports it unless its beyond accurate. He's not much of a guesser. He'll always give the right information and more than the other guy. Where there is smoke there is fire, and he usually is there to watch it burn.

This guy is a dumbass. Why would he think the Jets have no chance at a HOF QB?? And he thinks he gets his predictions right 95% of the time.. More like 90%...retard.

Ban him for a shitty avatar too. Is he a Pats fan??????

It's okay to be a dumbass. That poster wasn't being mean to anyone. He's just not very smart when it comes to football, is all. No reason for him to be banned.
And he's not even as moronic as that Cakes clown. I remember last summer when that Cakes moron wrote Randy Moss would not be very good with the Patriots.
