Patriots' Player Arrested for Assault AP Posted: 2008-06-30 19:59:54 http://sports.aol.com/nfl/story/_a/...09990001?icid=100214839x1204800075x1200226170 MANSFIELD, Mass. (June 30) - New England Patriots defensive back Willie Andrews was held without bail Monday after allegedly pointing a handgun at his girlfriend's head. Andrews was arrested Monday after the alleged incident that occurred at about 1 a.m. after he returned home and an argument began between him and his girlfriend, according to Gregg Miliote, director of communications for the Bristol County district attorney's office. Andrews, a backup since being drafted by the Patriots in the last round in 2006, was charged with illegal possession of a large capacity firearm and assault with a dangerous weapon, Miliote said. He said Andrews was held without bail pending the results of a dangerousness hearing Thursday. "The New England Patriots take the conduct of our players very seriously," the team said in a statement. "We are aware of the very disturbing and alarming reports regarding Willie Andrews. We will not offer any additional comment, as is our policy regarding pending legal matters." In February, Andrews was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and driving an unregistered motor vehicle. In May, he admitted in court that there was enough evidence to convict him at trial but did not plead guilty. In the latest incident, Andrews' girlfriend told police he waved his arm and the gun he was holding touched her temple, Miliote said. Police were called at 1:39 a.m. and Andrews was arrested about three hours later. About five hours after his arrest, at 9:45 a.m., the gun was found next to a trash receptacle by workers near the complex in which Andrews lived, Miliote said. Andrews, 24, was drafted by the Patriots in the seventh round out of Baylor. He played in 12 regular season games and three postseason games in 2007, almost exclusively on special teams, and scored his first NFL touchdown on a 77-yard kickoff return on Oct. 21 in a 49-28 win over Miami.
"The New England Patriots take the conduct of our players very seriously," the team said in a statement, "except, of course, when they are cheating on the field. Then we have no comment."
Gone already. http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/reiss_pieces/2008/07/patriots_releas_1.html
Haha, my thoughts exactly. I said just that very thing to someone last night after I read it elsewhere. But what a punk.
NAh he falls under the Brett Favre Rule, if you're a white drug addict you just have a medical problem.
Well it helps that Kazcur is somewhat useful as a football player, plus he was only using drugs, not selling them. A few months ago, the brilliant Willie Andrews was caught driving around at 3am, with HALF A POUND of weed, 6,800 in cash, and zero evidence of any intentions to actually use the drugs. For some reason, a man that made 365,000 in 2007 felt the need to sell weed in Boston suburbs. That apparently wasn't bad enough to warrant a release.
1/2 pound isn't really a lot when talking about weed - maybe he was splitting it with someone for personal use? That would be quite retarded if he was in fact selling it.
The reason he was pulled over in the first place was because his car had been reported for suspicion of drug activity a little while earlier, so I don't think he was just buying in bulk for himself and going home quickly, otherwise he wouldn't have been pulled over in the first place. 1/2 Pound+ Scale+ 6,800 cash,+ suspicious activity hours before= Dealer
I haven't even read about this, I'm just going by what you're saying here but ... "suspicion of drug activity" could mean going into a known dealers house and buying 1/2 pound of weed - right? I'm guessing that a lot of NFL players carry a lot of cash on them quite often - especially if they're going to buy a bunch of weed. I dunno - I'm just playing devils advocate and pointing out that it's possible he just buys a bunch at a time for himself.
While I don't think half a pound is a lot, I don't know too many dealers that travel around with much more than that. Morons like Nate Newton are the exception, not the rule.
I'm not sure I get your point. I had friends that used to deal with that shit and they would move a hell of a lot more than that when they were stocking up. They didn't carry around weight with them at all times - only seperate portions of what they were intending on getting rid of. Unless it was separated into smaller quantities or he had the tools with him to do so, it's hard to say for sure what his intentions were.
