I wonder if they'll allow us to break up our seats. We've had 12 seats since the Jets became the Jets. Well now with these PSL's, if they're even affordable to my family, we have 6 different groups going. My mom & dad, my wife and I, my inlaws, my sister and her bf, and 2 groups of family friends. Will we have to keep the seats in the same account to keep them together? Or will we be able to break them up by couple?
Great article. If the media were in fact screaming bloody murder over this as opposed to who will win the Kellen Clemens and Kellen Clemens battle, they might actually do something productive for once.
Sorry IS if the NYJs follow the NYGs way of doing things according to post #57 in this thread the 1st payment at least for some of the NYGs season tix holders will be 60 days from some time next month making it far more urgent that we do something ASAP
If 40-50,000 season ticket subscribers, however many there are, decide in mass not to pay it, what are they going to do?
Its not up to the media. Don't renew your seasons and hope enough people on the waiting list feel the same way. I could see the Jets falling short of selling out but not the Giants. Bottom line there are probably are enough people with money is this area to accomadate both teams. Its put up or shutup time once we see get the deatail$. 1k per seat and I am still in... maybe 2k. Anything over that and that's probably the end. I would rather spread it out over the next 2 .5 years then a lump sum in 2010.
For the most part, I think the way the Giants have the seat PSL's structured seems fair to me. 80% of the upper bowl will be $1,000 if I'm reading this correctly. That's where most of the real fans sit. In your case I really feel for you. I really do. My cousin is in the same situation. My Father bought tickets in 1960, I got them, and sold them to my cousin when I moved to Florida. They are great seats. I use/share them twice a year. If I still owned them I would be heart broken. Just couldn't afford them. My cousin can, so it's not that traumatic for me. Still, I really feel for ya
dam i have had season tickets for about 12 years and if the numbers are real for the mezz idk what i am going to do
Hey, here's an idea: why not have rookies contribute part of their exorbitant, stupidly inflated salaries to support their bloated, overbudgeted stadium? Or how about all players? Oh wait?why have the millionaires contribute? That would make no sense...
PS- a friend of mine just got off the wait list for season tickets after being buried deep in the cue. I can only assume this means people have dropped off the season ticket list. I would too if I knew I'd only have two more years in a stadium free of a "license" that could cost anywhere from the price of a laptop to a small down payment on a house.
Excellant question but I doubt if that would occur since there is so many biz firms in the NY metro area that would suck them up. I'm positive without a doubt that Woody does not care where the money comes from so long as it comes. Unless congress amends the tax laws (most doubtful) eliminating the writeoff for giveaways then Woody knows that the NYJs will continue to be sold out. At least that is what I think he is counting on. I think all this talk of moving the fan base from fanatic to suits is also poppycock because a great majority of the giveaway tix will be given to NYJ fans only instead of us pruchasing them ourselves it will be given to them as a perk by the business now owning the tix. By next years renewal if I read the NYGs thingy correctly the entire issue will be gone since you will have already had to say yea or nay & iif yea begin ponying up your dollars
Here is another question that I really haven't seen raised yet...WHAT IF the Jets follow the Giants, and send all of us letters saying we need payments for the PSL's by Sept. 1. There isn't even a seating chart of the new stadium out yet...How can we pay for a seat that we don't even know where it's located? When the Jets moved from Shea to the Meadowlands, they moved our seats from the 35yd line, to the 10yd line. All that Mr. Hess said was "I'm sorry". Now, back to my problem...What if you don't want to pay the $15-20k PSL in the Mezzanine?? They HAVE to offer you other seats...Its not my fault they want to install freaking couches and lounges and restaurants in the Mezz. I'm not paying for that sh1t!! Its a freaking Jets game, not some gathering of all the subscribers to Food and Wine magazine!!! Anyway, if people in the Mezz or lower level where a PSL is going to cost 25% of your annual income, they cannot guarantee you a seat somewhere else. It would be impossible. How can they say "sure, we'll sit you somewhere else"...What if those people whose seat they are giving you, buy their PSL? Then what do you do with that person? Tell them SORRY, but your going to have to go back on the waiting list??? This is going to be a clusterfuk.
There are plenty of businesses that will buy PSLs, but I don't know if that's going to fill up 80,000 seats at $5K-20K a pop. You may be right, I don't know. I do think your scenario of the real fans getting tickets second hand is going to play out, though. Just look at actual Jet games, look at the most recent one. They were showing highlights of Week 17 on NFLN last night, the Jets-Chiefs game had a sea of empty red seats, it looked like a Florida Marlins game. It's enough of a challenge to sell off extra tickets for face value for games like that, but if you pay for a PSL that's money you're just out. I'd like to keep at least a pair, but if I have to go the second-hand route I will, I did it for years. What are you going to do about your 12 tickets, champ? Again, you may be able to re-sell the tickets, but the PSLs are all going to be on you.
My son & I are taking a wait & see attitude to see all the details before making our final decision. The point is the businesses DO NOT care if they used or not used. From the businesses way of thinking is they made a "customer" happy by giving him freebies so as far as they are concerned they are in so called customer "fat" city. I think many get wound up in the "real" fans argument which in Woody's book means a NOTHING as his only interest is lining his pockets with more & more greenbacks from us "real" fans. He feels I am sure we will continue to support the team as well as continue to buy NYJ gear so he is in a win/win position & is probably right & will be laughing all the way to the bank. Also this will also turn into a cluster f**k because the most likely season tix holders to actual buy the PSLs are the guys now in the nose bleed sections. So now if those folks hold seniority over say someone in the coaches club who wants to move out it would appear the coaches club guy will lose out
I'm going to be doing the same thing. Don't take this the wrong way, champ, because I'm not sure how involved you are in business anymore, but things aren't done that way as much anymore. The days of taking people to lunch or the bar, back slapping and giving tickets away are phasing out. More and more people do business via e-mail and from their homes anymore, the entertainment angle isn't nearly what it used to be. I don't dispute there will be a certain degree of it as you say, but I'm skeptical they can fill an 80,000 seat venue at those prices on that alone.
My business days are gone but when you think of the all the major companies in the NY/NJ/CT area I think you maybe underestimating the amount of them. Also even if biz is now done by email as you say that will still not stop a company from sending his client freebies via UPS/DHL/FedX right? I know that is what I would do if I was still operating my business
Again, you're right, I just don't know if it's still a prominent enough business practice to fill up an 80,000 seat stadium just on corporate freebies, plus the expense of the PSLs up front. Remember, the Giants have to tap into the exact same market the same way and they have a far better product to sell than Woody does.
Again I think your "real" fans theory is clouding your thinking. We are talking here of many, many, many BILLION dollar companies in the NY metro area. They can easily buy PSLs for both us & the NYGs. I think it will be zero problem for Woody to fill up the stadium with company types
Its about longevity my friend. If someone upstairs has been a holder for 5 years, he is screwed because long standing fans downstairs will move them out if they want to go upstairs. I am 28 years and upstairs, side of end zone.
H'mm that is exactly what I said but thanks anyway. Here is what I wrote So now if those folks hold seniority over say someone in the coaches club who wants to move out it would appear the coaches club guy will lose out BTW 28 years is little time I am going on 43 years now __________________
Lets face it. The average fans are screwed while the Corporations can write-off their tickets as an "Entertainment Expense." What makes me laugh is that we're getting screwed both ways by not only having to pick up the difference, with our taxes, for THEIR write-off BUT, we also have pay 100% for our own tickets out of pocket.
