The sin of it all is, we're only talking 8 games. The other 2 "Preseason Games" are nothing more than scrimmage practices anymore. If you do the math on all this, it's a hell of a lot of money to attend 8 meaningful games (yeah, okay, they might make the playoffs, but then again they might not)... an outrageous amount of money to lay out. I don't know... I'm going to have to do some serious thinking about this. I've had my same seats since 1986... been to most of the games too... but this is all just starting to sound way too unreasonable for 8 games.
Cimini on the NYGs letter in todays blog June 26, 2008 Giants admit PSLs are here More on the controversial topic of PSL (personal seat licenses) at the new stadium? The Giants sent an e-mail to season ticket holders this afternoon, in the form of a letter from co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch, announcing the new stadium absolutely will have PSLs. This is the first public acknowledgment by either the Giants or Jets that PSLs are a reality. The timing of the Giants? announcement makes the Jets look bad because, when they sent out their ?survey? last week, there was no definitive statement on whether PSLs would be in effect. Obviously, at that time, the Jets knew damn well there would be PSLs. Give the Giants credit for taking the blunt, honest approach. We all know that if the Giants do it, the Jets will do it. Here?s a sample from the Giants? letter: ?At a cost of over $1.6 billion, the new stadium development is the largest 100 percent privately-financed stadium project in the United States. As with the other NFL cities that have recently opened new or significantly renovated stadiums, we cannot build these new facilities without the sale of PSLs.? The Giants also dropped hints about the actual cost. Presumably, the Jets will be in the same ballpark, no pun intended. The Giants? letter states, ?We are working very hard to develop a program and process for the purchase of PSLs that will provide a broad range of choices to Giants season ticket holders. Here are a few things we can tell you now. Each seat in the new stadium will have a PSL. Over 90 percent of the upper level seats will have a $1,000 PSL. Less than 5,000 seats in the lower level will have a $20,000 PSL, which will be the most expensive PSL at the new stadium. The pricing of the PSLs for the other seats in the new stadium has not been finalized, but we hope and believe that you will be pleased with the options when we send more detailed information on the stadium?s PSL programs.? PSLs are here, fans. It?s up to you (and the media) to raise hell if you?re opposed.
That's a good point. I deal with the pre-season games right now but it's definitely a rip-off. They were talking about expanding the season at some point, but who knows about that? The more inflated the tickets become the bigger rip-off the preseason games are and the more of an issue it will become.
Newsday Bolands take on the NYGs PSLs There's still time for Woody Johnson to do the right thing To no one's surprise, the Giants announced today they will be using Personal Screw Licenses to help fund the new stadium. The Jets, as we've discussed, have not yet made the call on PSLs, though last week's survey sent out to season ticket holders suggests that announcement is imminent. I continue, at no charge, suggest Woody Johnson take this approach to PSLs. My favorite parts of the Giants announcement are the respective comments of co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch. Both sounded almost apologetic for the decision. "It’s both an emotional and complicated process to establish the price structure in a new building that has an evolving manifest,” Tisch said. Nothing like a little "I feel your pain" insincerity by multi-millionaires. But more important, when Tisch strings together the words, "in a new building that has an evolving manifest," he sounds like a lawyer with no case trying to confuse the jury with impressive-sounding, yet meaningless, terms and phrases. In this corner you have the Jets comparing PSLs to "taxi medallions", and in the opposite corner the Giants are babbling about a building's "evolving manifest." Sounds like the building has some kind of bizarre personal problem. Last chance, Mr. Johnson, to boldly go where too few NFL owners have gone and say no to this heist.
umm 4 fags, bbq restaurant. dude, the mrs looked at me like i was wearing a cok on my head when i said i was going to the game. gotta pick your battles. remember when your wife sent you diving intot he city garbage dumps to retrieve her beauty parlour money? same idea.
dude that was great felt like Oscar the Grouch btw i understand i wouldnt love ya if i didnt call you a pussy right?,pussy. ill just have to find some other jet fan to Attend The jets VS Pats HOME OPENER 415PM START.
I am so pissed at the Jets right now I never even bothered to answer their cockamamie f@cking "survey." Everyone who got "the survey" can see through the transparancey of this farce like a wet piece of toilet paper. What a stupendous, colossal insult to us loyal Season Ticketholders. This is how we get paid for being loyal fans and coughing up ridiculous money year after year without as much as smelling a SB all this time. This "survey" is totally unworthy of response. But now, the Jets have even more egg on their faces because at least the Giants have the balls to approach it openly, honestly, with integrity and most of all, with some respect for their fan base and the Jets have not. They send out this colossally idiotic "survey" instead of being honest with us and at least giving us a little credit for being intelligent enough to deal with a direct letter such as the one the Giants sent out. The Jets look like complete weasels with all this indirect horseshit as well they should. I'm glad my Jets Ownership and F/O look like @ssholes. It's because they are. I am so f@cking pissed over this "survey" it's beyond words. What a f@cking insult. Hit me hard in the wallet... fine. But don't f@cking insult me this way. I deserve better than that after almost 40 years of freezing my f@cking ass off with no SB to show for it. Christ Almighty.
I whole heartedly agree on all accounts. The Jets need to stop pussy footing around, and tell us what their intentions are, and to what degree. They obviously already know how much the PSL's will cost...because Giants fans are already paying for them in the next 60 days (which I have a whole other problem with). If the Jets somehow, NO CLUE HOW, but somehow charge us more for PSL's than the winning Giants, there will be problems. The Jets need to just let their long time supporters know how much a ticket to the game will set them back...because like most people, our money is depleting daily. Gas, Mortgage/Rent, Stock Market. So if you could find it in your heart Woody, to bend us all over, and tell us how big the proverbial COCK is going to be, we would all appreciate it.
Is it going to be class warefare at the stadium where the rich folk sit down below and get beer dumped on them by the poor slugs in the upper deck?
but hey goodell is whining that they arent making any money and need to lower contracts for the players. "Goodell said the key need is to have the NFL Players' Association appreciate the financial challenges owners face with rising stadium construction costs and a faltering economy." http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3463911 now let me ask the douche mr goodell this, what about the fuckin fans who make the game what it is? oh thats right you dont care. i am becoming very very disenfranchised with the nfl in general. i surely wont be going to any games, i surely wont be purchasing any merchandise and i am getting close very very close to saying f it im not watching the nfl other than the jets... but i doubt ill ever get to that point. champ i had just read a article about the supersonics and was trying to say how they will screw you one way or the other, or both.
the jets will almost for certain follow the giants in PSL and probably the same price range. do you think a section 127 second row, which is a corner td area, be priced with a high fee? and if they do can i request to move to a 1k area?
That's such a bullshit application of the PSL concept. They should completely rename this program. A true PSL gives the owner first right of refusal at ALL events in that stadium. What happens if a concert or other event comes to town? Which season ticket holder has the right to their seat? Is there a lottery between the two? DO neither get the chance to buy a ticket? PSL's make sense when it is, in essence, YOUR seat for every event. Buying the rights to 8 games a year (plus playoffs) and no other events is a ripoff. Fucking crooks.
Goodell is full of it. I'm fairly certain the multi BILLION dollar deal with Directv covers a fair amount of their "financial challenges".
How can the jets/Giants justify their PSL's by comparing them to other stadiums where you get "all event" rights to the seats.
"A first set of Giants fans will receive a brochure detailing ticket prices and PSL fees, starting next month, Mara said, with mailings continuing into the fall. The first of three payments would be due 30 days after receipt of the brochure, the second payment in 2009, and the third due in March 2010." From the article: http://www.northjersey.com/sports/g...pscale_ticket_prices_for_upscale_stadium.html Does this mean we are going to get a brochure in the immediate future and have to fork up our first payments towards the psl? I thought this would happen after/towards the end of next summer. I didn't read anything about jet fans dealing with this brochure thing. Anybody else?
I agree with this, the time is now to speak up. One of us writing a letter of jumping up and down won't do anything, but as a group we have this forum and the games this year to say/do something. Maybe we should have a sticky thread where we gather ideas of what to do at the games to be heard.
