Why? Jones is a receiving back and nothing like Chatman. The Smith signing doesn't make sense In re Chatman.
hopefully it's a case of Tanny just "kicking some tires". KJ is too injury prone, including a Lis Franc injury he suffered in 2006 that clearly has affected his "running".....big time pass.
since when is jones a recieving back? and smith will be our short yardage guy, edit, you meant k.jones not t.jones right? sorry
Jones is good when healthy. He had a good first half of the season last year. Then the foot stated to bother him. He should be better now. But if they were to aquire him that would give them at least 3 legit starters. Feels like Denver Bronco stategy.
That's the key right there...to this entire discussion. The big concern I have is...can he "stay" healthy.
He won't stay healthy. The problem is he simply runs too violently. Many times I have seen Jones run into a defender when he easily could have sidestepped him to avoid contact and gain more yardage. Such a play would be a win-win situation. Instead, he'd look to initiate contact trying to be a tough guy or something. He either does not know how or does not care to properly protect himself. He's the anti-Curtis Martin. Jones had success sharing tailback duties at VT with Lee Suggs because he was facing numerous defenders who would not go on to play in the NFL. Once Jones made it to the NFL, his running style literally hurt him.
I didn't know this. ~RB Jones says he's ready: In a town about 40 miles west of Detroit, former Lions running back Kevin Jones has been rehabbing his surgically repaired knee at Brookside Golf Course, a pool and in the basement and dojo of a holistic medicine practitioner and sports agent. Soon, NFL teams will get a chance to witness what seems like a remarkable comeback from ACL surgery. Jones has a workout scheduled for scouts on June 28 in Saline. The Lions cut their former first-round pick in March with one year left on his contract after he hurt his knee late last season added to the injury woes that have stunted his success in the league. "I honestly feel like I'm ready to play right now," he insisted. "I think I'll get signed in the next couple of weeks, but it really doesn't matter when it is -- as long as it's before the season." ~ ~New England, Chicago, Green Bay, Tennessee, Tampa Bay, Denver, Kansas City, Philadelphia, Buffalo and the New York Jets are among the teams who have shown interest in Jones. Chances are that someone will sign him and give him a look. But no matter where he goes, he'd be a backup and nothing more.~ http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/players/playerpage/492975 I thought he was shut down from the Liz Franc not healing. ACL? No way they sign him. Abysmul might be right here.
